Job Summary
Driving growth in B2B payments with new customers is one of our top goals and biggest prospects. Deepening our participation in carded commercial POS flows and B2B accounts payable flows is critical to achieving our goals of capturing additional payment flows. While the opportunity is significant, these are new areas for us, necessitating new product offerings and go-to-market strategies informed by the feedback and active participation of our customers who are most interested in this space, as well as the development of new capabilities and relationships required to increase revenue growth.
Mastercard is extending its business-to-business payments in the Large & Mid-Market corporate market, meeting their payment demands throughout the procurement cycle with current and future platforms and solutions, and realizing our multi-rail vision for B2B payments. This team’s goal is on creating and expanding the two-sided network of Buyers and Suppliers to deliver accelerated GDV and revenue development in our Large and Mid-Market Corporate categories.
The Director, Business and Market Development job is responsible for delivering GDV and Net Revenue KPIs for the customers in their portfolio.
Role
- The selected applicant will work directly with our Account Management colleagues, who manage/own customer relationships, the B2B Regional & Global product teams, Data & Services, and other cross-functional teams.
- Develop, maintain, convert, and track a robust pipeline of Large Market/B2B possibilities for all issuers, including new players in this area. Meet or exceed KPIs for pipeline value, conversion rate, time-to-revenue, and Y1/Y2 revenue.
- Guide issuers through the LM/B2B journey by clearly and simply communicating the value MC may offer to Product, D&S, and other Services capabilities (Cyber & Intelligence, New Payment Platforms, etc.).
- Use the whole Mastercard capability set, across all functions, to close sales.
- Create, drive, and win partnerships with Financial Institution (FI) partners (for both card and invoice-led flows), and own the response to RFPs as needed.
- Take responsibility for educating the FI partners’ sales teams and supporting their continuing product knowledge development so that they can sell to their customer base.
- Manage deal execution and go-live in collaboration with B2B Program Managers as needed, or directly interface with TAMs to drive deal implementation.

All about you
- Understanding of the Commercial Large Market segment’s AP/Procure-to-Pay and AR/Order-to-Cash cycle trouble areas.
- Working understanding of the Commercial Card and Transaction Banking industries, as well as demonstrable experience in sales, product, and customer management in these sectors.
- Self-motivated with an established track record of success.
- Able to interact with external clients.
- A successful salesperson who can produce and follow up on leads autonomously.
- Effective communication and active participation in team settings.
- Proactivity, interest in learning, and drive to innovate.
- Proven success in commercial management/relationship roles.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to bring internal and external stakeholders together to develop and deliver customer solutions.
- Experience finding strategic opportunities and leading multi-stakeholder projects.
