Free Google Fellowship

The Google Ph.D. Fellowship Program was created to recognize outstanding Ph.D., graduate students. It was to encourage exceptional work in computer science and related research. This fellowship provides full-tuition i.e enrollment fees, health insurance, and books.

It also gives allowances to be used for living expenses, travel, and personal equipment. The program is open to Canadians, permanent residents, as well as international students. When applying, applicants must submit their application for Graduate Awards to be nominated by the university.

Eligibility for 2022 Free Google Fellowship

  • Firstly, Applicants applying for this fellowship program must be or have;
  • Secondly, Full-time UBC graduate students looking to pursue a Ph.D.
  • Thirdly, Graduated or is about to complete coursework by the Fall of the award year (Fall 2022)
  • Hence, Students must remain enrolled in the Ph.D. program for the duration of the Fellowship or forfeit the award.
  • However, Google employees and members of their families are not eligible.
  • Also, Students that are already supported by a comparable industry award are not eligible.

Available Courses

This program is interested in nurturing its candidates in computer science and related research work. Due to this some fields of study include;

  • First of all, Privacy and Security
  • Secondly, Programming Languages and Software Engineering
  • Thirdly, Quantum Computing
  • Also, Computational Neuroscience
  • Similarly, Health Research
  • Equally, Human-Computer Interaction
  • Besides the above list, Machine Learning
  • Also, Machine Perception, Speech Technology, and Computer Vision
  • Additionally, Mobile Computing
  • And other related research and science programs.

How to Apply

  • Submit a cover letter from the UBC head from your previous institution confirming your eligibility.
  • Submit an academic curriculum vitae. Include links to previous research work if published
  • Attach to the documents 2 to 3 recommendation letters.
  • Add a research proposal, (including all the details and format of a research proposal)
  • Write a report on your research proposal outlining its importance and benefits.
  • Official transcript from your last institution

All documents to be submitted should follow these requirements:

  • Pages must be 8 ½” x 11″ (216 mm x 279 mm).
  • Insert a minimum margin of 2 cm (3/4 inch) around the page (top, bottom, and sides).
  • Use a minimum font size of 10-point Arial font or equivalent.
  • Attachments must be in PDF format.
  • At the top of each page, indicate your name and the title of the document.
