New Job Opportunities at CARE Ghana

CARE Ghana is looking for qualified individuals to join a dynamic team of specialists to help implement the $50 million USAID-funded Strengthening Accountability in Ghana’s Education System (SAGES) Activity. This Activity assists the Ghana Ministry of Education and its agencies, particularly the Ghana Education Service, in improving primary education service delivery by institutionalizing accountability in the Ghanaian primary education system.

The activity supports the efforts of the Ghanaian government (GOG), particularly the Ministry of Education (MOE) and its agencies/affiliates, to improve the education system’s performance and provide an enabling environment for accountability.

POSITIONS AVAILABLE

1. Community Mobilization and Development Specialist

Required Skill or Experience

Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge and comprehension of Ghana’s educational policies and worldwide education policy.
  • Experience with the Education Accountability Framework
  • Knowledge of educational planning, implementation, and management
  • Excellent knowledge of gender equality and social inclusion.
  • Knowledge of USAID/Ghana Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS)
  • Experience with ethical rules and standards in international development.

Experience

  • A minimum of seven years of professional experience in educational planning, community development, program design, and educational administration is required.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated expertise in conducting community mobilization efforts, including community animation.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment on a complicated project with many stakeholders, partners, the government, marginalized groups, and community people is necessary.
  • Experience in organizing community durbars will be beneficial.
  • Experience with implementing innovations in rural and underserved populations is necessary.
  • Experience working with SMCs, Parent Associations, and community scorecards is desirable.

2. Education Specialist

Required Skill or Experience

Knowledge

  • Excellent understanding of Ghana and worldwide education policies.
  • Experience with the Education Accountability Framework and knowledge of education strategy, implementation, and management.
  • Excellent knowledge of gender equality and social inclusion.
  • Knowledge of USAID/Ghana Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS)
  • Expertise in ethical rules and standards for international development.

Experience

  • A minimum of seven years of professional experience in education, program planning and management, and/or educational research is necessary.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing and implementing education projects and accountability systems.
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching is desired.
  • Experience with district and school education structures, such as district education oversight committees and school management committees, is desirable.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced setting on a complicated project with many stakeholders, partners, governments, and community people is necessary.
  • Experience working in a multicultural workplace is desirable.
  • Experience in implementing innovations in rural and underprivileged populations is beneficial.
