SENIOR LECTURER – ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

THE ACCRA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (AIT), — A DYNAMIC LEADING PRIVATE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY IN GHANA, IS LOOKING FOR QUALIFIED AND HIGHLY MOTIVATED INDIVIDUALS FOR THE FOLLOWING FACULTY (ACADEMIC) & ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATION FULL-TIME POSITION: SENIOR LECTURER – ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

Role Specific

• Teach within the Engineering team on a range of programmes, delivering effective
  learning for students particularly in Electrical/ Electronics
• Be up to date to plan, deliver and assess high quality teaching as required by your
  Line Manager to the appropriate number of hours (810 hours per annum)
• Develop and share resources for the course/subject
• Deliver enrichment and enhancement activities
• Complete required assessment duties in relation to student assignments
• Maintain comprehensive, up to date, records and provide information as
  requested using College systems to track and communicate student progress
• Be responsible for the appropriate administration of exam entries and liaise with
  external awarding bodies, as appropriate
• Ensure close liaison and good communications with colleagues and managers
  across both academic and pastoral elements of the role
• Act as a Personal Tutor, if required
• Value and support students to achieve their full potential and support team targets
• Effectively manage the behaviour of students
• Engage in curriculum development and planning activities, individually and as a
  team
• Embrace the College ethos that every student will achieve their full potential
• Participate in standardisation/verification and moderation, as required
• Ensure provision is aligned with best practice nationally
• Take responsibility for achieving the section’s targets in retention, attendance,
  achievements, high grades, added value and student satisfaction
• Positively represent the College both internally and externally at all times

Qualifications and Attainments 

• Degree in an Engineering related subject area or appropriate professional qualification (subject specialisms in Electrical & Electronics disciplines)
• Recognised teaching qualification or a willingness to achieve this within three years of appointment
• A higher degree or advanced qualification

Training, Experience and Knowledge

• Successful teaching experience in a relevant subject area (Engineering/Electrical/ Electronic)
• Knowledge of and proven ability to deliver the curriculum successfully
• Recent commercial/industrial experience
• Demonstrate a student-centred approach to teaching and learning
• Experience of providing an outstanding teaching, learning and assessment experience
