Job Posting at AVSF (Agronomes et Vétérinaires Sans Frontières)
POSITION: Bilingual Field Officer
Company Profile
The Equity Program (which supports fair trade dynamics in West Africa) began in January 2016. This initiative has already had two phases (2016-2019 and 2019-2024), with the third beginning in October 2024. It will have operations in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Benin, and Togo, with its headquarters in Abidjan.
Its goal is to help low-income nations achieve long-term economic development, combat poverty, and improve family farming by promoting the establishment of fair and sustainable value chains in West Africa. AVSF (Agronomes et Vétérinaires Sans Frontières) manages the initiative on behalf of Commerce Equitable France (CEF). To supervise the program’s activities in Ghana, AVSF is looking for a bilingual project manager to assist the project’s beneficiary producer organizations (POs) in carrying them out.
The Technical Assistant is responsible for supporting peasant agriculture at Agronomes et Vétérinaires Sans Frontières (AVSF), a professional worldwide solidarity association with a public utility status since 1977. In Africa, Asia, and South America, the group collaborates with peasant communities to achieve agro-ecological transformations that address food insecurity and peasant families’ economic fragility. AVSF also helps to consolidate producer associations and increase their participation in both local and export sectors (fair trade, organic, and quality) to provide fairer remuneration and, as a result, better living conditions for agricultural families. The third phase of the Equity Project in West Africa intends to convey and promote the previous phases’ results and innovations. Its goal is to reduce poverty by building equitable value chains for small producers, promoting agroecological transition, and professionalizing fair trade-certified cooperatives in West Africa. In the cocoa sector, it will primarily contribute to the implementation of the new European law against “imported” deforestation (RDUE), which mandates full traceability of cocoa placed on the European market by 2025: programme-equite.org
