Job Opportunities at Kumasi Technical University
The Governing Council of Kumasi Technical University is looking for suitable candidates for the following positions.
1. Director of Finance
Qualifications & Experience
He or she must:
- Be a Chartered Accountant with a Master’s Degree in the relevant subject. Candidates must have at least 12 years of post-professional accountancy experience or have served as a Deputy Director of Finance in a university or similar institution for at least 6 years in a tertiary institution, industry, public service, or corporate organization.
- Demonstrate good character and personal integrity to implement and manage all Finance Directorate activities.
- Be able to advise the Vice-Chancellor on all financial issues impacting the university.
- Have a thorough understanding of the University’s financial rules, procedures, controls, and processes.
- Demonstrate competence with applicable accounting and financial software, as well as records management, following the University’s mission and objectives.
- Have extensive expertise in Treasury Management, ideally in a university setting.
- Have substantial expertise in complying with finance, accounting, and tax regulations, preferably in a university setting.
- Be able to communicate financial ideas and effectively interact with fundraising colleagues who do not have a finance background.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills with students, staff, and other agencies.
- Provide clear, practical, and accurate guidance on financial procedures and obligations to Finance Directorate staff at all levels.
- Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Terms of appointment
- The Director of Finance shall serve an initial term of four (4) years. The appointment may be renewed upon application for another term, or part thereof if it is not beyond the statutory retirement age of sixty (60) years.
- The Governing Council of Kumasi Technical University will set the terms and conditions of the appointment under the Technical Universities Act 2016 (Act 922), as amended, and the university’s statutes. The remuneration and working circumstances for this position are highly favourable and equivalent to those at similar universities in Ghana.
2. Director of Internal Audit
Qualifications & Experience
The Director of Internal Audits must:
- Be a Chartered Accountant with a Masters Degree in the relevant subject.
- Have at least twelve (12) years of post-professional accountancy/auditing work experience, or have served as a Deputy Director of Internal Audit in a university or equivalent grade in a similar institution/organization for at least six (6) years in a tertiary institution, industry, or any relevant public service or corporate organization.
- Be computer savvy and familiar with accounting/auditing software.
- Demonstrate analytical, critical, results-oriented, innovative, and visionary skills;
- Work independently;
- Have strong communication, interpersonal, and supervisory skills;
- Be a team player.
Terms of appointment
- The Director of Internal Audit shall serve for a term of four (4) years, which must be completed before the statutory retirement age of sixty (60). He or she may be eligible for re-appointment for an additional term of up to four (4) years, provided that no part of the second term falls within the compulsory retirement age.
- The Governing Council of the University shall set the terms and conditions of the appointment in compliance with the Technical Universities Act 2016, Act 922 (as amended by Act 974), and the Statutes of Kumasi Technical University.
- The remuneration and conditions of service for this position are quite good and equivalent to those at similar public universities in Ghana.
