Job Description
- Department: Quality Assurance
- Reports to: QA Manager
- Location: HPW Fresh and Dry Ltd, Adeiso, E/R.
Responsibilities and Duties
Leadership
- Timely communicates non-conforming processes and goods to the QAM, sourcing team, and production.
Doing/organizing
- Ensure that fruits from the intake fulfill quality specifications for processing in terms of maturity (color and translucency), ripeness (brix), and defect-free.
- Develop solutions to reduce the number of defective items generated during processing while ensuring first-time quality and completing all defect control forms.
- Ensure traceability is maintained throughout the manufacturing process.
- Ensure that staff in this area, including equipment, meet personal hygiene and food hygiene criteria before starting up and while working in the processing and spreading areas.
- All food safety and quality incidents should be reported to the QAM immediately.
- Complete the daily plaster control checks, quality control monitoring board, customer complaint board, and all quality control charts for the packing room.
- Organize and train/coach production people to process/pack fruits according to customer specifications (e.g., size, color, wetness, etc.).
- Ensure that persons and equipment in this area meet personal hygiene and food hygiene requirements before and during operation.
- In charge of hygiene and sanitation. This includes daily facility hygiene and sanitation checks.
- Reviewing SSOPs for efficacy.
- Creating monthly sanitation reports.
Checking
- You have to guarantee that all documentation connected to bulk production is completed on time and in full every day.
- Weighing scales are checked and calibrated.
Action/Reaction and Correction
- Hold and report all nonconforming products to QAM and the sourcing team.
Communication & Reporting
- Use all available communication tools to communicate the situation. CAR, email, phone calls, WhatsApp, and other communication methods.
- Complete all reports and send them daily. (For example, color reports, pallet sheet reports, and so on.)
- If you have exhausted all communication options with your manager and the situation has not been resolved, email the MD, copying or reverting management.
Additional Tasks
- Assist QA Bulk officers in monitoring and implementing procedures/SOPs on the production floor.
Departmental
- Maintains touch with department heads and QA compliance officers.
Equipment/Tools to be Used
- Refractometers, vernier calipers, infrared thermometers, rulers, standard weights, tablets, and so on
Required Skill or Experience
Education
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, HND, or its equivalent in science-related fields.
- Knowledge of food science, biochemistry, chemistry, laboratory technology, and other related fields.
Competencies (Technical, Personality, and Supervisory).
Knowledge, skill, and ability.
- Knowledge of standards: BRC, IFS, and GSA
- Understanding of Auditing concepts and principles.
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams with a positive attitude and persistence.
- Capability to plan and arrange tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to convince and influence others.
