Job Summary:

As the Urban Mobility Analyst, you will provide project coordination, research, and administrative support to the WRI Africa Cities Program including support to ongoing sustainable transport programs in Ghana related to urban mobility, road safety, urban development and planning, public transport, non-motorized transport, and urban design.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Research, data interpretation and analytical issues including on road safety, speed management, complete streets, accessibility, public transport and para-transit network mapping, and integrated transport planning
  • Conduct and coordinate primary survey and secondary data collection and analysis including focused group discussions to collect qualitative data to make evidence-based decisions, conducting desktop research, and carrying out site analysis and activity mapping
  • Coordinate and prepare technical documents (road safety audit and inspection reports) for the projects including data collection, conduct or coordinate surveys, compilation, analysis, design drawings, 3D visualizations, report

Job Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in environment, sustainable development, transport or city planning, GIS or a related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working on urban transport projects mobility plans, street design initiatives, intersections, construction, data collection, research & analysis, urban traffic safety viz., pedestrian and vehicular safety, etc.
  • Prior experience working on projects related to urban design, non-motorized transit planning, urban traffic and transportation engineering, and urban planning
  • Full fluency in English; fluency in Twi or other local dialect is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams, juggle multiple priorities, work under tight deadlines and work on different time zones
  • Understanding of institutions and government agencies in Kumasi, Ghana and the larger African region. Local and/or regional experience is desirable
  • Detail-oriented, organized and independent thinker
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly both orally and in writing, with excellent demonstrated skills in English
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; experience managing complex processes or projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced working environment and to juggle multiple assignments with little supervision
  • Experience in writing policy briefs, policy frameworks, and guidelines
  • Experience on working on research publications.
