Why Studying in Canada is Better than the USA
Today, we’ll talk about why it’s better to study in Canada than in the USA.
Over the past few years, some countries have become popular places for foreign students to study abroad. Both the United States and Canada are dream places for students who want to go to college abroad.
In recent years, Canada has surpassed the US. The main reasons students choose Canada over the US are faster handling times for study permits, easy immigration, and lower costs.
Because of the controversy surrounding the US F1 visa freeze during the COVID-19 pandemic, fewer students have applied to study in the US. Even though the ruling was overturned, the changes to H1-B student visa rules also affected how many international students came to the US.
On the other hand, the number of foreign students who chose to go to college in Canada did not change as quickly.
Here are the reasons why foreign students should choose Canada:
1 . Visa Policy
As everyone knows, applying for a visa in the US is a very long and difficult process that takes a lot of checking and a lot of waiting. In comparison, getting a Canadian visa is easier and takes less time, which makes it more appealing for foreign students to study in Canada.
Also, Canadian universities let foreign students stay in Canada and look for work. Depending on the length of the course, the Graduate Work Permit lets foreign students stay in Canada for up to two years after they graduate from a post-secondary school in Canada.
On the other hand, foreign students in the U.S. who have an F-1 visa can stay in the country for up to a year to work in a short job related to their main field of study.
2 . Criteria for eligibility
Even though the admissions process and entry requirements for international students in the US and Canada are similar, there are some big changes that make it easier for international students to get into Canadian universities than US universities.
US bachelor’s degree applicants must take the SAT or ACT. But in Canada, you don’t have to have SAT or ACT results to receive a bachelor’s degree.
GRE required for US master’s degrees. Before admitting overseas students, most US colleges demand GRE scores. On the other side, you don’t need GRE marks to get into a master’s degree in Canada. There aren’t many courses or institutions in Canada that ask international students who wish to attend there to take the GRE.
3 . Costs & Expenses
Education in Canada isn’t as expensive as it is in the US. The two biggest costs for foreign students who go abroad to study are school fees and living costs.
4 . The cost of living in the U.S. and Canada
Aside from education, the cost of living in Canada is also much cheaper than in the US. The movie with examples can give international students a good idea of how much it costs to live in both countries.
5 . Employment Opportunities
One of the most important reasons to study abroad is that it can lead to a lot of different job possibilities.
The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) is one of the things that international students studying in Canada have over foreign students studying in the US. The post-graduation work pass is an important part of Canada’s immigration system. It lets international students work in Canada for up to 3 years after they graduate.
It is also a way to get a stable place to live and then citizenship.
