Scholarship Details
The Ph.D. Scholarship Awards are determined by competitive criteria that consider the applicants’ qualifications (such as GPA, journal articles, conference presentations, patents, GRE scores, reference letters, etc.) and their place of graduation. Criteria for Eligibility
Applicants must fulfill the requirements listed below in order to be eligible for the United Arab Emirates University Ph.D. Scholarship:
- Candidates must have a master’s degree GPA of less than 3.5/4.0.
- Lack of a job or other form of financial support.
- Be a full-time employee of UAEU.
- Throughout the year, commit to working on coursework and/or research projects for at least 40 hours each week.
- Complete a dissertation in one of the UAE’s priority industries, such as space, transportation, renewable energy, health care, or water.
- Meet the criteria for admission to the Ph.D. program.

About The Scholarship Program
The Division of Academic Affairs’ administrative division is the College of Graduate Studies (CGS). To meet the needs of the graduate community at UAEU, the College’s dean and staff collaborate with all academic and administrative divisions of the university.
UAEU has a history of providing top-notch graduate education since 1991, even though the CGS is a relatively young organizational body within the university. Our selection of graduate programs has grown dramatically over the past ten years to over 35 graduate degree programs at the Master’s and Doctoral levels, with various professional and academic orientations, that are provided by the nine various academic colleges.

Major Objectives
As a result, the College has the following major objectives:
- To encourage the creation of and offer assistance to graduate programs that address the strategic and workforce needs of the country.
- To increase enrollment in graduate programs through financial aid and recruitment.
- To enhance the effectiveness and quality of doctorate education.
- To improve UAEU’s graduate program generally for students.
- To improve the graduate programs at UAEU’s external image and repute.
Additionally, UAEU provides the following three graduate program types:
The Master’s Program
The academic departments in the colleges offer master’s degree programs in a variety of subject areas. Master’s programs come in two flavors: academic (i.e., research-based) and professional. The completion of a research thesis or major project, as well as a minimum of 30 credits, are requirements for all programs. Both full-time and part-time students may enroll in master’s programs. But in some programs, there might be some limitations.
Doctoral programs for professionals
Beyond the Master’s degree, professional Doctorate programs offer advanced coursework. It necessitates independent study and coursework. The professional doctorate places a strong emphasis on research abilities and advanced professional knowledge in a practical area of specialty. Most students enroll full-time in professional doctorate programs. However, certain programs can allow enrolment on a part-time basis.
The Ph.D. Program in Philosophy
The PhD program is an academic doctorate degree program that necessitates coursework beyond the Master’s degree and academic research, according to the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the United Arab Emirates. A research dissertation of publishable quality that contains high-caliber academic research and unique addition to human knowledge is required for the Ph.D. degree. A residence duration of at least three years of full-time enrollment is necessary for the Ph.D. program.
The number of graduate students enrolled at UAEU has increased to 1,440 for the upcoming fall 2020 semester, an increase of 83% over the Fall 2016 enrolment. Even though more than 46% of our students are UAE citizens, graduate students represent 54 different nationalities, representing a great diversity of backgrounds and cultures.
Additionally, half of our students enroll full-time, and the majority of them receive financial aid in the form of scholarships, fellowships, or research assistantships. Additionally, they are working on successful research projects that are connected to the strategic industries of the nation, including health, education, renewable energy, water, transportation, technology, and space.
Over 437 students from 9 different colleges are now enrolled in our Ph.D. program, and we have graduated 173 alumni who have published over 1090 peer-reviewed research papers and given over 221 conference presentations.
