Concerning the University of St. Thomas

With more than 9,000 undergraduate and graduate students spread across its eight schools and colleges, the University of St. Thomas is the largest private university in Minnesota and among the biggest Catholic colleges or universities in the country.

Thanks to the Schulze School of Entrepreneurship, we are in the top 20 of The Princeton Review’s list of “undergraduate entrepreneurship programs” and are recognized as a “top national university” and “best value school” by U.S. News & World Report.

The 2,000-year-old Catholic intellectual tradition, which unites faith and reason to explore the world, served as the model for our founding. Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) is rooted in our Catholic identity. Our principles drive us to uphold and defend the dignity of every person and to strive toward a more just and equitable society. Future leaders of all faiths who want to have a positive impact on the world are developed at the University of St. Thomas.

St. Thomas, which draws its inspiration from the Catholic intellectual tradition, prepares its students to be morally upright leaders who can reason critically, make prudent decisions, and work deftly to further the common good. As a community, we are dedicated to upholding the following values: the search for the truth, scholastic achievement, faith and reason, respect for diversity, individual attention, and thankfulness.

Our community is dedicated to promoting and modeling an inclusive, equitable, and varied atmosphere. We think that each of us has a responsibility to uphold and defend human dignity. That’s what it means to have the common good at heart.
