About University of San Francisco Scholarships

Because we understand how important it is to invest in you, the University of South Florida makes scholarships available to full-time undergraduate students based on merit and financial need. This academic year, the typical amount of a merit scholarship awarded to first-year students was more than 20,000 dollars. If you are accepted to USF, you will be automatically considered for merit scholarships; there is no need to submit a separate application.

Concerning University of San Francisco

The University of San Francisco, just like the city that surrounds it, provides its students with an abundance of vitality, optimism, and opportunities that cannot be found anywhere else. The journey to USF is like climbing Lone Mountain. The poetry that you create for your engineering assignment should be about the University of San Francisco. Classes at USF are often quite small, and the faculty members both know their subject matter and are familiar with their students.

Gleeson Hall at the University of San Francisco is bustling with activity late at night. What is USF for? And why on earth not? Who makes this claim? And in such a case…  It’s a gathering of friends for ice cream in the Mission district. At Baker Beach, they serve boba. It involves taking the Muni. It’s an internship located in the downtown area. It involves seeing a nurse at work in a local health center.

Your time at the University of San Francisco will be similar to an interview with a career counselor. In the fall, you watch baseball and play basketball, and in the spring, you play basketball and watch baseball. USF is a wide-open avenue. A seat at the table is what USF provides. You will find yourself in the center of the city that creates the future, surrounded by people who care about making the world a better place, when you choose to attend USF.

St. Ignatius Academy, the forerunner of today’s University of San Francisco, was established in 1855 as the first building of what would later become the University of San Francisco. On the first day of class, there were three students present, which resulted in a student-to-faculty ratio of 1:1.

History

By the year 1858, there were a total of 65 students enrolled. In the year 1859, the college was given its charter by the state of California. The college relocated to its new location in 1880, which was a structure on Van Ness Avenue in the Civic Center. This location is now occupied by Davies Symphony Hall. The college was relocated near the intersection of Hayes and Shrader Streets after the earthquake and fire that occurred in 1906.

The Jesuits purchased a narrow piece of land near the intersection of Fulton Street and Parker Avenue in 1914, the same year that they finished constructing the present-day St. Ignatius Church on that spot. In 1927, to meet the demands of the expanding student body, a new structure was constructed immediately to the east of the church, and the college was relocated to its current position. The rebranding of St. Ignatius College as the University of San Francisco took place in 1930, coinciding with the institution’s diamond jubilee and coming at the behest of various alumni associations.

In 1978, USF purchased Lone Mountain, which brought the total amount of land on campus to 55 acres. There is only one university in San Francisco that is ranked in Division I: USF. USF accomplished its objective of zero net carbon emissions in 2019, which is 31 years earlier than its projected date of 2050.

Today, the University of South Florida (USF) provides more than 80 undergraduate programs in the arts and sciences, business, and nursing and health professions, as well as more than 60 graduate programs in the arts and sciences, education, business, law, nursing and health professions, and nursing and health professions.

Housing and Dining

The university experience is defined in large part by the opportunity to live on campus among people with varied identities and origin stories. It is the place where exciting new experiences are discussed, lasting friendships are forged, and significant ideas are conceived. One of our ten residence halls is located off-campus, while the remaining nine are located on campus. Of these nine, there are five living-learning communities that each provide a one-of-a-kind opportunity to engage with the institution.

Health and Wellness

The Jesuit tradition of cura personalis, which translates to “care for the whole person,” serves as the basis for our proactive and compassionate approach. We think that the state of your physical health, as well as your mental, emotional, intellectual, social, environmental, and spiritual health, is crucial to your success as a student at USF.
