The Student Associations

Have a hobby for which there isn’t a club or organization? Not an issue! Make your own now. You can even ask for financing from the university to support your endeavors. Sound and Visual Arts
On campus, more than 600 students take part in fine arts and music programs. These Tech students aspire to include the arts in their lives because they are passionate about them. Sing, play, act, and produce! Scholarships for the Visual and Performing Arts Talent Award are offered to students who want to participate actively in the arts while attending college.
Greek Family
Greek life is a tradition at Michigan Tech and is an excellent method to create lifelong friendships. Become a member of one of the eleven fraternities or seven sororities to fulfill your potential through service, leadership, and academics. During the 2022–2023 academic year, over 10% of students on campus became Greek, accumulating over 10,395 service hours and collecting over $51,315 for regional and national charities.
Outdoor Excursion
Mont Ripley, our very own ski and snowboard hill, and the Portage Lake Golf Course are both owned and run by Michigan Tech and are just a short distance from campus. You may go hiking, mountain biking, Nordic skiing, snow biking, and snowshoeing on our top-notch Tech Trails. Situated on the Keweenaw Waterway, Michigan Tech is only a short distance from Lake Superior. We provide clinics, equipment rentals, courses, and guided excursions as part of our outdoor adventure program.

Scholarship Categories and Benefits
International Ambassador Scholarship (automatic consideration)
Based on academic accomplishment, non-US citizens or residents are given the International Ambassador Scholarship. worth between $11,000 and $14,300 per year for a maximum of four years (eight semesters).
Alumni Legacy Award (automatic consideration)
Awarded automatically to children or grandchildren of Michigan Tech alums; please indicate your alumni relationship(s) on your application for admission. The award gives eligible individuals the tuition rate of Michigan residents, which is more than $20,000 annually. A University Student Aid Grant, a Military Family Education Award, or an award from the National Scholars Program is not available to students who win the Alumni Legacy Award.
Summer Youth Scholars Award
given to newly admitted first-year Michigan Tech undergraduate students who took part in the Summer Youth academic program. The quantity of awards varies.
College of Business Dean’s Award (automatic consideration)
Given out automatically to first-year nonresident students pursuing majors in the College of Business. Send in your application to be considered for admission to a major. valued between $2,000 and $20,000 annually.
FIRST Robotics Scholarship—for students in FIRST or VEX Robotics
Incoming first-year students who have actively participated in a FIRST Robotics Competition, FIRST Tech Challenge, or VEX Robotics team throughout their high school career are eligible to compete for the FIRST Robotics Scholarship. valued annually at $4,000.
Athletic Grants
given to students chosen by Michigan Tech coaches to play varsity sports based on their athletic prowess. valued at the full-time cost of books, housing and board, and tuition
Scholarships Sponsored by Individuals and Organizations
Through the kindness of people and organizations, sponsored scholarships are made available to incoming or current students. Students are typically given automatic consideration for the awards for which they qualify. Some sponsored scholarships, though, call for a different application.
Michigan Tech J. Edgar McAllister Foundation Scholarships
Given to Canadian citizens or lawful permanent residents. The amount of the award varies; an application is needed.
