Merit-based graduate scholarships are given out at Caltech, and the university reports that approximately 98% of graduate students are awarded these grants.

Federal Pell Grant

As the program name suggests, the Pell Grant is a US government-funded initiative that is given to undergraduate students at Caltech based on their financial needs. Students must meet certain requirements to be eligible for the Pell Grant at Caltech, including having not completed a bachelor’s degree and being eligible for federal financial aid programs.

The maximum value of the Pell Grant US program is $5,730, and it varies for each student. The student’s enrollment status and financial circumstances determine the scholarship’s ultimate value.

There is no need for a separate application for the scholarship; students who have completed the FAFSA form are immediately considered. The maximum period of the PEL grant program is six years.

Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) from the federal government

This is another federally supported program for Caltech undergraduate students. It is a need-based US scholarship program that is given to students who show that they have financial need; the student’s academic standing is not taken into account in the selection process.
