We provide a variety of scholarship programs, assist you in navigating financial aid opportunities, and collaborate with regional and national groups to help you obtain additional financing.

Scholarships are available from the Northland Community & Technical College Foundation for both the fall and spring terms. These may depend on a student’s enrollment status, academic interests, financial situation, or other activities. See our list of scholarships for more information. Apply for scholarships as soon as possible, because some are due well in advance of our admissions deadlines!

Northland Community and Technical College scholarship: what is it?

Those individuals who have a deep commitment to Northland Community and Technical College and its students are the ones who establish scholarships. Former students of Northland College who qualified for financial assistance make up a segment of the donor pool. There are two types of scholarships: annual and endowed. Both can help students financially.

• Type of Scholarship: Award for tuition

• International students are eligible to apply.

Scholarship Divisions

Workplace Training Scholarship

New students who are enrolling in programs that will prepare them for careers in industries with a high demand, such as advanced manufacturing, agribusiness, health care services, information technology, early childhood education, and transportation, are eligible to apply for Minnesota Workforce Development Scholarships.

Eligibility Standards:

• Minnesota residents are required to be students. (Must have completed high school in Minnesota or, if older than average, must have established Minnesota residency.)
• Students who received a Workforce Development Scholarship the previous year may reapply provided they have maintained a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above for two academic terms and completed a minimum of nine credits per term.
• This autumn, students must declare one of the following Northland programs and enroll in a minimum of nine credits:

1. Advanced Manufacturing: Welding Technology, Mechatronics, Electronics Technology, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Online
2. Agriculture: Farm Operations Management, Animal Science, General Agriculture, and Agriculture Education
3. Construction: Carpentry, HVAC, construction electricity, plumbing, and architectural technology and design
4. Early Childhood Education: Paraprofessional & Early Childhood
5. Health Care Services: Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapist, Surgical Technology, Broad Field Health Sciences, Medical Administrative, Medical Coding, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapy Assistant
6. Cybersecurity and Computer Networking Technologies in Information Technology
7. Public Safety: Fire Technology, Criminal Justice, and Paramedic
8. Transportation: Aviation Maintenance, Auto Body Technology, Automotive Service Technology

Scholarship for Early Recruitment

Additionally, incoming students can apply for Early Recruitment Scholarships from the Northland Foundation up to a year before they start at Northland.

Qualification Standards

In response to the following questions, please compose an essay of no more than 500 words using the following format:

• Provide a synopsis of the assistance that you have offered to such parties as your family, friends, employers, and other groups and organizations. It is important to highlight any honors or leadership positions that are particularly noteworthy.
• Give an explanation as to why you are interested in pursuing the particular degree or program that you have chosen.
• Describe in detail your long-term goals in terms of both your career and your education. Please provide a list of the extracurricular activities that you intend to participate in while you are a student at Northland.
• Please describe any other significant life experiences, financial difficulties, or unusual circumstances that you may have encountered that may have an impact on your eligibility for a scholarship.
