The rights and limitations of the Canadian Visitor Visa would be extremely valuable to prospective candidates.

Visitors are not specifically prohibited from seeking work while in Canada, but visitor visas are not meant to be used for this purpose. Indeed, obtaining a job in Canada rather than abroad may be more fruitful because Canadian employers often prefer to meet potential workers in person. Typically, in order to study in Canada, you must first receive study permission. However, if you meet the following criteria, there are a few unusual exceptions that allow you to study in Canada on a visiting visa:
- The school where you want to study must not be a DLI.
- The duration of the program or course cannot be less than six months.
- The course does not form part of a larger curriculum.
- The course will be completed before your Visitor Visa expires.
Submit an application for an extension of stay in Canada.
Visitors may be granted visas for up to six months. However, if you want to stay longer than the initial validity period of your visa, you can apply for an extension. The immigration officer who examines your case will determine whether to grant the extension and for how long.
Carry out business-related duties
Even though working in Canada normally requires a work visa, you can undertake some commercial operations there as long as you do not immediately enter the labor market. You can, for example:
- Purchase items or services from Canadian businesses on behalf of a foreign corporation.
- Go to a company’s website.
- Receive training in product use, sales, or other business-related activities upon invitation from a Canadian company.
- Meet and talk with people in order to start and finish a commercial deal.
Apply for a work permit
Tourists in Canada are often not able to apply for a work visa. The option to apply for a work permit while in Canada on a visiting visa is made possible by a temporary measure that is in place until the end of February 2025 and allows visitors to the nation to have a real job offer.
People who wanted to work in Canada had to apply for their first work permit before arriving. This temporary policy change, however, eliminates that necessity. They would have to leave the nation to obtain their work visa if they had visitor status at the time. This policy makes it unnecessary to leave Canada.

Permanent stay in Canada

Canadian Studies
Except in the circumstances specified above, you cannot study in Canada if you have a guest visa. For any other events, you must have study permission to legally study in Canada.
Apply for a study permit.
Based on your tourist status, you cannot apply for a study permit from within Canada. When you return home, you must begin the process of applying for a student visa. Assume a tourist has a family member who has a valid study or work permit in Canada. In that situation, an exception to this rule allows the visitor to apply from within Canada.
