Canada is one of the best places to get a grant in engineering that pays well. Interestingly, you can apply for these awards even if you don’t have an IELTS score. It also has a lot of industrial opportunities and doesn’t require IELTS for countries that teach in English.

List of Canada’s 10 best engineering scholarships

1. Engineering scholarships at the University of Toronto

Without requiring IELTS, the University of Toronto awards sizeable grants to engineering students. First-year and second-year college students are both eligible for scholarships. There are numerous scholarships available, including the Ewing Rae Graduate Scholarship, the Right Track Graduate Scholarship, the Donald R. Student Electromagnetics Graduate Award, and the Daryani Graduate Award.

2. A scholarship from the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation

Doctoral students in engineering can apply for this grant, which gives them $40,000 a year for tuition and an extra $10,000 for living costs and a stipend. Engineering students who want to apply for this grant must have good grades, be good leaders, be curious, be able to keep going even when things get hard, be able to deal with different points of view and be able to change. The IELTS test is not required to apply for this grant.

3: Program for Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships

This grant is given by the Canadian government to students who are getting a Ph.D. or a joint master’s and Ph.D. degree in Canada. The grant is for three years and is worth $50,000 each year. Students in engineering can apply for this grant without having to take the IELTS. The scholarship is open to people from any country and from any field.

4: Engineering grants at Carleton University

The University of Carleton is a well-known school that gives undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral engineering students a lot of grants. To apply for this grant, you do not need IELTS. There are a lot of scholarships for Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, Computer systems engineering, and Electrical engineering students. Depending on where you are from, you may not need IELTS to apply for these grants.

5: Scholarships from the Killam Trust

This scholarship is given to excellent doctoral research students at any of the following Canadian universities: the University of Alberta, the University of British Columbia, the University of Calgary, Dalhousie University, the Montreal Neurological Institute, and the National Research Council of Canada. Depending on the type of award, the value can be as high as $80,000 per year.

6: The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS)

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship is given to students in Ontario who are getting a master’s degree or a Ph.D. The grant is for all fields, even engineering. It is a scholarship based on talent that does not need IELTS. It gives out prizes of $10,000 to master’s students and $15,000 to doctoral students every year. This grant is available at all Ontario universities, like the University of Ottawa and the University of Waterloo.

7: Graduate Scholarships from NSERC

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) gives undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students who are studying natural sciences or engineering a number of grants. Depending on the level of study, the grant is worth between $9,000 and $21,000 per year.

8: Program to honor Amelia Earhart

This grant is given to women at any Canadian university who are working on their Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aviation/Aerospace, Electrical Engineering/Electronics, or Earth Science. A one-time payment of $10,000 is given to each grant winner.

9: A scholarship from the Society of Women Engineers

Women from all over the world, including Canada, who are studying engineering can apply for this grant. Women who have been out of school for at least two years and are going back to school are also welcome to apply. When you join the Society of Women Engineers, you get access to a wide range of awards and jobs.

10: Faculty for the Future Fellowships from the Schlumberger Foundation

The Schlumberger Foundation awards $50,000 to STEM and engineering PhD women. All nationalities can apply. This grant is for engineering Ph.D. students with full-time offers from Canadian universities.
