New Policy for International Students in UK | Study in UK 2024

Students from the UK must excel academically or leave the nation. The UK government is making every effort to reduce the amount of net migration. Due to the nation reaching a record-high net migration level of 300,000, James Cleverly requested that the migration committee evaluate the Graduate plan as one of the five points of the plan.

The advisor to the government has also said that international students may not be allowed to remain in the UK for two years under the terms of their graduate visa if they do not receive high grades.

Did you know that nearly 98,000 international students received a 2-year visa in June 2023, allowing them to remain in the UK after graduation? This was an astounding 42,000 increase in just one year. Furthermore, a pitiful 0.7%, or fewer than one out of every 100 applicants, were turned down.

Since working is not required during the two-year stay, there are worries that students may take advantage of this and use it as a cover to work in low-skilled positions. Professor Brian Bell, the head of the migration advisory committee, said that the committee would like to study The Graduate Route and determine whether regulations requiring specific grades or accomplishments can be implemented.

He went on to say that the committee would also look at the possibility of adding other constraints, such as requirements that international students have completed particular courses, attended particular universities, or have certain employment categories and activities restricted.

Youth Mobility Scheme

The UK’s Youth Mobility scheme is an amazing cultural exchange program that enables young candidates from participating countries, between the ages of 18 and 30 (or up to 35 in some circumstances), to experience life in the UK for up to 24 months.

You can live, study, work in most jobs, or even run your own business in the UK while you have a youth mobility visa that is valid for two years.

Who can Apply for the Youth Mobility Scheme?

Remember that to apply for a Youth Mobility Scheme visa, citizens of Hong Kong (with a SAR passport), Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan must first cast a ballot. However, you do not need to vote if you are a British national abroad, a citizen of a British overseas territory, or a British overseas citizen.

Remember that there exists a separate ballot if you want to apply for the India Young Professional Scheme and you are an Indian citizen.

How to Enter the Youth Mobility Scheme Ballot

Don’t forget to cast your ballot. Within the allotted 48-hour period, you will need to send an email. Keep in mind that each application is limited to one ballot entry.

This is your chance to visit the UK and increase your career options. There is no way this chance should be passed up. On the official Youth Mobility scheme page of the UK home office, you can get all the information you need.

Who Can Apply

An Icelander, a Sammarinese, a Canadian, an Australian, or a Monegasque might all easily find their place in it today. The age range for eligibility is 18 to 30 years old. For instance, you can apply if you belong to the appropriate age group and are a citizen of South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, or Hong Kong.

But, you must first participate in the lottery program offered by the Youth Mobility Scheme. This website offers dates for ballot opening as well as details on how to enter the ballot. If you are a citizen or national of a British overseas territory, you may also apply; you are not required to participate in the lottery as mentioned above.

If India is your nation of origin, you can apply for another scheme. The India Young Professionals are the name for this scheme. Additionally, the program’s eligibility requirements resemble those of the Youth Mobility Program in certain ways.

What happens on January 31, 2024

We expect that to begin on January 31, 2024. We should see additional expansion of this program concerning Andorran nationals and Uruguayan citizens. Additionally, this cap remains raised for Canadians and Australians, who, like their New Zealand counterparts, should participate in the program at the current age range of 18 to 35.

All qualifying nations will still fall within the 18–30 age range, though. Joining the program will be something that many individuals throughout the world are looking forward to.
