New Pathway for Foreign Carer – Australia | No Work Experience Required, $51,000 Salary & PR in 2 Years

A new country has opened up for Carers so you no longer do you have to be stuck in the UK, Canada, or the US. There is a new country and English-speaking country that you can now move to as a Carer and the requirements are mind-blowing.

Permanent residency in only two years of working as a Carer and the salary threshold is high as well it is over $51,000. You do not need work experience for this at all and you can also move down with your family.

Australian aged care providers can now apply to access the new agent care industry labor agreement. The agent care industry labor agreement streamlines the recruitment of qualified direct care workers from overseas to work in the area. Care sector employers can now use this where appropriate.

How to Get this Opportunity

Employers must first enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the relevant industry Union. These are the three industry unions that are involved in this;

Asia Care Industry Labor Agreement

Applying for the agent care industry labor agreement and the agent care industry labor agreement terms and concessions. This is for the employers to sign an MoU with any of these industry unions.

Urgent Care Industry Labor Agreement

You can use this urgent care industry labor agreement to sponsor overseas workers for the temporary skills shortage subclass 482 Visa in Direct Care occupations. These occupations include nursing, support worker, personal care assistant, and aged or disabled carer.

Eligibility Criteria

  • First and foremost, show proof that they’ve tried to hire within Australia and they could not find workers to fill these roles and now they want to hire from overseas.
  • Sponsor overseas workers for permanent residents under the employer nomination scheme subclass 186 visa program
  • Workers must have at least two years of full-time work experience in Australia in a relevant direct care occupation

The two years of work experience is not tied to a particular employer or visa subclass.

  • The first instance you move into Australia on subclass 482 as a nursing, support worker, personal care assistant, or an agent shadow disabled carer
  • Then having worked in Australia for two years in this position. You will now get permanent resident status in Australia right after two years of working in Australia

You know that for the UK, for you to get permanent residency which they call the Indefinite Leave to Remain, you must have worked for five years in the UK. So, getting this for two years is good.

Visa Requirements

Through the employer nomination scheme, you have two years of permanent residency in Australia.

Streamline Visa Nomination and Priority Visa Application Processing

  • Priority is going to be given to the visa processing for this stream and it’s going to be fast. Your visa application is going to be fast-tracked so you get your visa quicker than you would normally do for other visa streams
  • No post qualification or work experience is required. You don’t need any work experience for this. Once you have your certification as a Carer, you know you have a relevant certification or training, that is advantageous. However, you don’t need any work experience or post qualification.

English Language Concessions for Workers with Relevant Community Language Skills

  • For those that have relevant community language skills – English language, the whole English language requirements are taken away and those Community language skills are used instead.
  • Also, they have some languages that have to do with Indians, Chinese people, and some others that fall under this community’s language skills. Additionally, an annual salary of at least 51,222 AUD.
  • You need to have an English language proficiency level of at least 5.0 or equivalent. That is for IELTS

Labor Market Testing Requirements Satisfied

Once aged care providers have entered into an MoU with the relevant union, the skill and qualification requirements will differ. These will be specified under the terms of each labor agreement.

Recent Changes Made

While not officially called a Carer Visa, this pathway brings foreign carers into Australia to take up jobs. Thus, a very good development and there’s going to be more updates added to this.
