Job Title: Tool Store Attendant
Newmont Mining Corporation is one of the biggest gold producers in the world, and its most important properties are in Nevada, Peru, Australia, Ghana, and Suriname.
The Ahafo Mine is in the Brong-Ahafo region, and the Akyem Mine is in the Eastern region. Both are owned by Newmont’s Africa Operations. Ghana is also putting a lot of effort into near mine exploration and development in order to replace its gold reserves every year. Newmont Africa also has programs in Ethiopia and Morocco that are just getting started.

Our Akyem and Ahafo mines have put a lot of money into making the communities where they are located more sustainable. These include setting up Development Funds in the areas where we do business in Akyem and Ahafo. Each mine will put US$1 per ounce of gold sold and 1% of its annual net profit before taxes into its own Development Fund.

About This Role
- To provide an effective tools management service for the process maintenance team so that repairs can be made and broken tools can be found and replaced.
- Make sure that the waste from process maintenance is separated and thrown away as needed.
- To make sure that all of the tools in the tool room, like presses, surface grinders, power hand tools, and safety gadgets/equipment, can be used safely.
In this position, you’ll
Tooling
- Firstly, Tools and portable hand machines are given out every day.
- Secondly, Take care of and set up the tool store.
- Thirdly, Make sure you bring back any tools you checked out from the tool store.
- Moreover, Make sure the tools you give out are clean, safe, and in a good state to use.
- Additionally, Make sure that consumables in the tool store are restocked when they run out.
- Then, Make sure the tool boxes are kept clean and in order.
- Also, Tools should be given to the Workshop supervisor on a regular basis and in the right way.
- Afterward, Make sure that the rate of loss of tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) stays at an acceptable level.
- Last but not least, Issue Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) items to employees.
- Finally, Don’t give out replacements unless it’s for something that can’t be used.
Maintenance
- Fix broken or worn-out tools or make plans to have them fixed, throw away tools that can’t be fixed, and tell your supervisor.
- Maintain and fix the oil dispensing system, air regulators/lubricators, hose reels, pumps, and Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs). Empty the waste oil container as needed.
- Make sure the shop is always clean and free of dangers.
- Keep the yard clean and trash-free.
- Clean or make plans to have all hydrocarbons cleaned.
- Keep the workshop floor clean.
- Check the wash pad and tell your boss what you found.
Checks and audits
- Check that all the tools’ safety color codes are certified and up-to-date.
- Check the mechanic’s or electrician’s tool box.
- Make sure that you keep a complete and accurate record of your tools, both on paper and electronically.
- Watch the oil-water separators to make sure they work and don’t let the container overflow.
- Check out the emergency eyewash.
- Make sure the oil bund container stays clean and that the valve is locked.
Reporting
- Give your supervisor a monthly report (forms or a “out of service” tag) on tools that are damaged, broken, or missing.
Safety, health, and the environment
- Take responsibility for your own health and safety.
- Attend safety meetings.
- Follow and do what is required by all Maintenance control rules.
- Make sure that all operations in the toolroom follow safety rules and support the company’s safety culture.
Your List of Training, Skills, and Experience
Formal Qualifications (including Professional Registrations):
National Vocational Trade Certificate (Mechanical) or other relevant Mechanical Engineering certification.
Extra Information
- Maintenance principles and industry standards should be known.
- Know how to plan and organize work.
- Planning and time management skills.
Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in the field of mechanical engineering.
Technical Skills
- The ability to find tools.
- Computer literate.
- Good at getting things done and talking to people.
- Then, Having the ability to work under stress.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Also, Must have a good attitude and work hard and with a lot of dedication.
- Knowledge of the procedures of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is important for this department.
- Lastly, Skills in analyzing and solving problems.
