DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the Authority’s Legal Affairs Unit and ensures compliance with statutory legislations and laid down policies
- Liaise with the Office of the Attorney-General and the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources on legal and regulatory issues
- Review and prepare legal instruments such as contracts, loan agreements and leases for the Authority
- Provide GGSA with advisory legal opinions on issues that affect the organisation
- Liaise with MDAS, MMDAS and Mining Sector Companies to ensure compliance with relevant GGSA policies, legal and regulatory framework
- Draft risk management and compliance policies and ensure compliance with statutory policies
- Arbitrate in conflict situations involving GGSA and third parties as and when necessary
- Represent the GGSA at meetings, negotiations, administrative hearings and judicial proceedings
- Provide legal input in drafting of the GGSA policies
- Draft and or review contract documents
- Serve on Bid Reception, Bid Evaluation and Negotiation Teams
- Conduct Legal Research and participates in reviewing Committee of Enquiry Reports
- Any other work assigned by the Director General Management GGSA Board
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Candidate must have:
- Appropriate academic and professional qualification in law (BL, LLB) awarded by a recognised tertiary institution
- A minimum of four (4) years post-qualification relevant work experience
in a reputable public or private sector organisation. - Requisite qualification to work as a legal practitioner in Ghana,
- Completed the statutory National Service.
- Good knowledge and appreciation of the laws of Ghana, especially laws related to the operations of GGSA and the mining sector.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
