POSITION: Flight Operator
About You and the Position
In your role with Zipline’s Flight Operations team, you will be tasked with making sure the delivery of medical supplies to healthcare facilities is conducted safely and punctually. This will entail collaborating with a group of flight support operators to perform routine pre-flight checks, launching, and retrieving the drones.
What you will perform
- Launch and Recovery: You will oversee the secure assembly of drones for over 150 flights, conduct essential inspections, liaise with Zipline controllers to ensure flight readiness, and launch as well as dismantle drones upon their return to the Distribution Center.
- Guarantee suitable and prompt communication of fleet and system problems to the flight operations team.
- Effectively convey information to flight technicians/Shift coordinators regarding unresolved issues and obstacles identified during the launch and recovery process.
- Assist incident response teams effectively and safely when necessary.
- Show exceptional attention to detail and concentration in both standard and non-standard conditions, and alert the shift coordinators/maintenance technicians on duty.
- Regularly adhere to all established operating procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Convey information clearly and efficiently among and across teams, particularly during busy days.
- Engage in initiatives that enhance team culture and community, like workplace or cultural enhancement projects that unite individuals and support Zipline’s principles.
- Capacity to offer assistance or make additional efforts to aid others
- Sometimes, take the lead in spotting issues without needing guidance.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Aerospace Engineering/Drone Engineering Technology, or National Service member, or vocational training individual with a technical background.
- Enthusiasm for engaging in the field and a willingness to get your hands messy.
- Capability to remain attentive, modest, and safety-aware throughout 12-hour shifts
- Capacity to perform in a dynamic setting and appreciate tasks that keep you active.
- Capacity to sustain concentration throughout prolonged daily activities
