In compliance with applicable state regulatory authorities, all MSK personnel are expected to have received the COVID-19 immunization. Employees are deemed completely vaccinated (i.e., one dose of a single-dose vaccine or the last dose of a multi-dose vaccine series) upon completing the primary COVID-19 immunization series.

The COVID-19 vaccination obligation is waived for individuals who apply for and are granted a medical or remote exemption. Reviewing requests for medical exemptions may take up to two weeks. You need to have a valid medical exemption or be fully immunized before you may start working.

Employees at MSK New Jersey locations are required to be up to date on their COVID-19 immunizations, which includes having had the initial round of COVID-19 vaccinations and any booster shots mandated by the state of New Jersey. All New Jersey employees who are not yet qualified for a booster must get one within three weeks of becoming eligible to keep their jobs at MSK.

Position Description:

The Lab Manager oversees and handles technical and administrative duties in a big laboratory. and is responsible for maintaining the equipment. Ensure that you have sufficient materials for the experiment. Assist the investigator in managing the staff. Oversee lab safety initiatives to guarantee compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Help with the design of the lab’s layout and amenities, offer suggestions for improvements, and maintain a list of the lab’s furnishings, supplies, and equipment. Analyze the literature and make recommendations for experiments that will further a certain project or line of inquiry. When preparing papers for publication or use in scientific meetings, prepare reports, charts, and graphs.

Duties

  • Oversee daily tasks in the research lab, including checking that vital equipment is operating correctly, making sure there are enough supplies for standard experiment techniques, and examining finances.
  • Serve as a point of contact between the host’s safety and regulatory offices and the lab to guarantee adherence to all relevant rules.
  • Establish protocols for the lab, maintain current procedure manuals, and assess new supplies and machinery.
  • Carry out investigations.
  • Assess novel methods and innovations in technology.
  • Gather and preserve lab member materials before they leave to uphold exit policy guidelines.
  • Teach new hires how to behave appropriately in the lab.
  • Get instruction in experimental protocols.
  • Perform challenging scientific methods.
  • Help in the writing and editing of manuscripts.
  • Provide recommendations for improving operations.
  • Oversee technicians, and give them guidance, instruction, and performance evaluations.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in health or physical sciences, or a comparable combination of training and work experience.
  • Have five years of lab experience, with at least three of those years spent in managerial roles.
  • Ability to operate under time constraints and perform extremely complex experiments with good precision and reliability.
  • The ability to lead people.
  • The capacity to start and finish appropriate-style conversations for a range of objectives.
  • Both extensive knowledge in areas of responsibility and in-depth expertise in a particular field
  • Thorough understanding of organizational structure, including the functions of each position within and outside of the work unit, as well as in other groups.
  • Capacity to assess objectives, evaluate procedures needed to achieve them, and create methods and frameworks.
  • Regularly look into new topics and look for chances to use what they’ve learned in the workplace.
  • Shown proficiency in writing and editing drafts

Financial Benefits

An annual salary of $70,700.00 to $109,500.00
