- Reports to (Job Title) : Regional Coordinator for Sub Saharan Africa (based in Ghana) and Ghana Programme Manager (based in UK)
- Travel Required: Travel will be required at times

Role overview
To lead and manage World Child Cancer’s (WCC) work in Ghana, including a 3-year programme funded by UBS Optimus Foundation.
Ensure the financial accountability of funds, reporting to WCC on a quarterly basis. Build the organisation’s profile in the country and develop fundraising capacity.

- Successful implementation of World Child Cancer programmes in Ghana, through the engagement of staff, partners and beneficiaries.
- Effective representation of World Child Cancer
- The reputation of World Child Cancer is positive with strong links in place with relevant organisations, partners, stakeholders and governmental bodies
Role Overview
Project Management:
- Report and organise WCC Ghana Steering Committee
- Responsible for overseeing the delivery WCC’s programmes in Ghana, including a 3-year UBS Optimus Foundation funded programme
- Create plans with key milestones and measurable outcomes: track progress and adjust to meet the objectives, ensuring others are aware of changes and reasons for them
- Maintain and develop accurate schedule of activities
- Develop, in collaboration with WCC UK, monthly and quarterly work plans and budget forecasts
- Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of workplans and budgets, communicating any significant delays or issues regarding implementation
- Support colleague workers and subordinates achieve goals accordingly
- Assist in the development of strategies to achieve project aims and objectives
- Compile monthly narrative reports
- Support in developing project reports as per funder requirements
- Communicate progress with healthcare professionals and administrative staff within the project
- Develop and maintain new relationships with individuals and organisations to further World Child Cancer’s aims.
- Support WCC’s local and international partners, building strong working relationships to deliver shared goals and objectives
Financial Management:
- Support the in compilation of quarter financial reports
- Report all expenditure to WCC, communicating any significant budget variation (overspend or underspent)
- Guarantee that WCC UK and Ghana financial procedures (as per Finance Manual) are correctly implemented
Fundraising and communication:
- Identify and develop partnerships with local supporters
- Collaborate with local fundraising groups to gain support for the project
support the development of proposals and budgets for new funding opportunities - Maintain and develop databases of contacts and donors
- Assist local fundraising groups to write letters and applications to local funding sources
- Support WCC UK head office fundraising strategy and development of applications
- Assist WCC head office with communication materials for use on the website and social media
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Assist WCC to develop a monitoring plan, ensuring its implementation and providing regular updates to the UK office
- Organise and assist with regular monitoring visit and external evaluations
Required Skills or Experience
Essential:
- Post-graduate degree or equivalent experience
- Substantial experience of project management including project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and narrative and financial reporting.
- Practical experience of designing and implementing child health programmes, including experience of working with international, national, and local partner organisations
- Strong financial background including experience managing and tracking project budgets
- Good written and spoken English
- Enjoys working in small yet growing teams where there is opportunity for growth

Experience:
- Experience working within global health, including policy and advocacy issues
- Experience in public health programme management.
- Knowledge of capacity building tools and techniques.
- Relevant experience, including strategic planning and management of a large and complex budget
- Relevant experience of project/programme management.
- Experience on public speaking and/or working with the media.
- Experience of distance management of staff and partners.
- Ability to foster collaborative, transparent and accountable relationships through partners, including over distance.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Relevant post-graduate degree in medicine, public health, or related subject
- Proficiency in IT including the Microsoft Office Suite
Desirable:
- Insight into the challenges of childhood cancer
- Knowledge of the health, political, social, and economic context of Ghana and the development issues and challenges it faces
- Experience of advocacy on public health issues especially non-communicable diseases
- Fluency in any of the relevant languages in the region or other relevant languages.
