Overview of the Internship Program
The University of Tokyo Research Internship Program (UTRIP) is a summer internship initiative for students specializing in natural sciences and related disciplines. The curriculum will provide students the opportunity to acquire experience in “authentic graduate school life” or “research-oriented life.” UTRIP serves as a portal for obtaining an advanced degree and engaging in the academic environment at UTokyo. The program will serve as an effective assessment for students to evaluate their suitability for demanding graduate studies in the natural sciences. Participating students will collaborate closely with prominent scholars from the Graduate School of Science (GSS) at UTokyo.
The program offers exceptional scientific research experience alongside off-campus activities, including a field trip to a historical or natural site in Japan, as well as social and cultural events aimed at enhancing understanding of Japanese culture and fostering relationships with current students at UTokyo. The curriculum also includes lectures on interdisciplinary scientific fields.
Upon completion of the program, students must deliver an oral presentation and submit a report on the research topic.
