Expanding Visa Policies on the Horizon
The decision tells the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to write up detailed plans for expanding unilateral policies that don’t require visas. Once these papers are finished, they will be sent to the government for further review and implementation.
This change is meant to make it easier for tourists to get into Vietnam and get more people from other countries to choose Vietnam as their vacation spot.
E-Visa Eligibility Under Review
Also, the Ministry of Public Security has been asked to figure out if it is possible to add more countries to the list of those that can get e-visas. By adding more countries to this list, Vietnam hopes to make it easier to get a visa and draw more kinds of tourists, making it more popular around the world.
Air Travel Accessibility in Focus
The Ministry of Transport has been given the job of making it easier for foreign airlines to set up routes to Vietnam.
Also, the ministry is likely to take steps to improve the coordination of flight schedules. This will give travelers more freedom and ease.
Negotiating Visa Waivers with Other Nations
In order to make it easier to travel without a visa, the Vietnamese government has given different departments the job of starting talks with other countries about visa-free travel.
Vietnam wants to be more competitive on the world stage and bring in more tourists from other countries by strengthening diplomatic ties and easing travel limits.
Visa Reforms and Legislative Adjustments
Since March, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has been working hard to add more countries to the list of those who can enter Vietnam without a visa.
At the moment, only 25 countries don’t need a visa to visit Vietnam. In comparison, Malaysia and Singapore let 162 countries visit without a visa, the Philippines let 157 countries in, and Thailand lets 65 countries in.
Tourism experts say that this difference makes Vietnam less competitive in the area.
In response to this worry, the government plans to suggest changes to immigration laws that will make it easier for foreigners to get visas and give them more time to stay in Vietnam. To make these changes happen, the National Assembly will vote on the suggested changes at its next meeting, which will start on May 22.
Ambitious Tourism Targets
The tourism industry in Vietnam has set high goals for the year. They want to welcome 8 million foreign tourists and 102 million local tourists. It is expected that these efforts will bring in VND650 trillion ($27.7 billion) and help the country’s economy grow and improve in a big way.
Vietnam is on track to reclaim its place as a top tourist destination that draws people from all over the world thanks to the government’s strong commitment to improving its tourism industry through visa reforms and better travel infrastructure.
