Express Entry 2024: Increase Your CRS Score With a Job Offer | FSWP & CEC

Getting hired is one of the best ways to improve your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and increase your chances of being invited to apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Canada in the highly competitive Express Entry program. In addition to adding significant points to your CRS score, a legitimate job offer from a Canadian business shows that you are ready to participate in the Canadian workforce.

This blog will discuss how receiving a job offer might improve your Express Entry CRS score, what qualifies as a qualifying job offer, and practical methods for finding work in Canada.

A Valid Job Offer for Express Entry

It’s frequently unclear what characteristics make an offer of employment through Express Entry valid. For most jobs, an LMIA is required; nevertheless, certain unique requirements apply to both employers and employees. Your CRS points and the likelihood of getting an ITA can rise if you receive a legitimate employment offer through Express Entry.

Precise Requirements with an Express Entry Job Offer

The following requirements must be met for an offer of employment under Express Entry for Federal Skilled Workers and Canadian Experience Classes: For an employment offer to be considered valid, whether you’re applying under the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Canadian Experience Class, it needs to be;

  • Provided by a single employer
  • Continuous and must be paid
  • Full-time, at least 30 hours a week
  • Not seasonal
  • Valid for at least 52 weeks (one year after you have your Visa for permanent residence)
  • The job role ought to be in NOC 0, A, or B (TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3) skill type

The following are additional prerequisites;

A fresh, positive LMIA verifying the offer in your name and position must be given by the company with the job offer. Alternatively, you must be employed in Canada in a TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 (NOC 0, A, or B) and possess a valid LMIA-based work visa. To work at TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 (NOC 0, A, or B), you need to hold a valid LMIA-exempt work permit.

Requirements for Federal Skilled Trades to Receive a Job Offer

For your employment offer to be accepted if you plan to apply through the Federal Skilled Trade Stream, it must meet the following requirements:

  • There could be up to two employers who make a job offer.
  • At least 30 hours a week must be put in, and it must be a paid full-time position.
  • A minimum of one year should be dedicated to the commitment to a skilled trade, which includes jobs in 2016 NOC codes beginning with 72, 73, 82, 92, 632, and 633.

The following are additional prerequisites:

The employers that make the employment offer should be the ones who have a new, positive LMIA approving the offer and listing you in your position, or else you must be a skilled tradesperson employed in Canada under a work permit recognized by the LMIA. Alternatively, if you have a valid work visa and are looking for one of the skilled trade positions that do not require an LMIA

Examples of both Legitimate and Fraudulent Employment Offers

  • Example 1: A heavy equipment operator is employed by two companies. A minimum of one year’s work, or 16 hours per week offered by each company, is covered by the LMIA for both companies. This is an official job offer.
  • Example 2: A plumber works 25 hours a week for a non-contractual construction company. Since the work is not full-time (at least 30 hours per week), this job offer is invalid for Express Entry.

Jobs for Which an LMIA is not Required

The company that extended the offer to you does not require a new LMIA for the following two reasons:

  • If you currently hold a work permit based on an LMIA and are employed by a company
  • You don’t need an LMIA for your work.

Your employer needs to get a new LMIA if:

  • Your work permit expired
  • You are working on an open work permit
  • The job offer you have is from an employer who is not listed on your work permit

How can you add a new job offer to your Express Entry profile?

Make sure to update your Express Entry profile with the following information as soon as you learn if your offer is still valid or receive another one: Employer details such as name, address, start date, job-related NOC, and LMIA number (if applicable)

What should your Express Entry job offer include?

Your employment offer for Express Entry must be:

  • A recent, fresh job offer that was less than a year ago
  • It is necessary to have a formal job offer.
  • It shouldn’t originate from an embassy or consulate of the Canadian High Commission.
  • Give details about the position, such as the responsibilities, compensation and benefits, working hours, and employment terms.

Conclusion

Gaining employment in Canada is a critical first step in raising your CRS and improving your Express Entry standing. A better CRS score raises your chances of being granted an ITA for permanent residence in Canada.

You may increase your chances of landing a job and accomplishing your immigration objectives by being aware of what makes a qualified job offer, taking advantage of networking opportunities, and professionally presenting your abilities and qualifications to Canadian businesses.

Accept the job offer journey as a calculated step towards achieving your Canadian ambition and starting a fresh chapter of professional and personal development in the Great White North.
