The Deputy Executive Director of Partnerships, advises and assists the Executive Director of UNICEF on resource mobilization, strategic partnerships, and communication.

Moreover, The Deputy Executive Director, Partnerships, leads fundraising, strategic partnerships with the public and private sectors, communication and advocacy, and coordination with the UN system, international financial institutions, international and regional organizations, and civil society. The Deputy Executive Director of Partnerships oversees the Private Fundraising and Partnerships, Public Partnerships, and Global Communication and Advocacy Divisions.

The Deputy Executive Director of Partnerships also provides oversight and supervision of the UNICEF-hosted global partnerships.

Responsibilities

The Deputy Executive Director, Partnerships, works closely with the Executive Director and has the following duties:

Global Resource Mobilization: Expands, transforms, and guides UNICEF’s engagement, policy dialogue, and advocacy to mobilize quality resources for the UNICEF Strategic Plan, focusing on a broad and diverse base of partners and partnerships, public and private; also oversees UNICEF’s strategic direction and cooperation with private sector partners and all private fundraising revenue.

Leads UNICEF’s fundraising and partnership strategies. Guides, represents, coordinates, and leads organization-wide efforts to engage key partners and partnerships to drive

UNICEF’s priorities and the SDGs. Communications, Advocacy, and Media: Plans and implements work, media, digital strategy, public advocacy, internal communication, and all global communication plans.

Innovation: Develops and exploits new resource mobilization opportunities, including innovative child finance.

Partnership Guidance at Regional and Country Levels: Provides high-level advice to regional and country offices on applying organizational policies and standards of practice in all aspects of the partnership, as well as sharing information on trends, opportunities, and guidance on engagement and collaboration with key UN system partners in line with the UN development and resident coordinator system’s repositioning.

Management and Administration: Effectively and efficiently directs and manages UNICEF’s resources in accordance with relevant rules, policies, procedures, and standards and promotes a work environment supportive of UNICEF’s greatest asset, its staff.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

  • Master’s degree in international relations, political or social sciences, business administration, or related field
  • At least 15 years of progressively responsible professional experience leading and managing diverse and complex international teams, including but not limited to international organizations, governments, private sector, or NGOS
  • International resource mobilization and strategic partnership experience
  • Experience managing communications, media, and public relations advocacy
  • A results-driven, people-focused management style with strong negotiation, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative leadership, and demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic setting, including effectively in multi-agency, cross-sectoral leadership teams
