COVID-19 and its impacts on major activities of national concerns has been enormous. It has resulted in some major activities rescheduling and others seeing an outright cancellations.
The 2020 census has been of no exception. NewsNowGh can exclusively confirm that the 2020 census has been rescheduled. At a press conference held by the Ghana Statistical Service and keenly monitored by NewsNowGh, the Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Annim, stated clearly that the 2020 census has been postponed.
“June 28, 2020, as the Census Night has been rescheduled…We need to put together over 75,000 enumerators and supervisors and train them [for the exercise].” he stated.
According to him a new date shall be announced upon a thorough consultation. The Government Statistician further stated that they had plans to train the 75,000 people who applied as Enumerators and Supervisors. Applicants are therefore entreated to exercise patient and expect an official invites from the Ghana Statistical Service.
He entreated to warn applicants that under no circumstance should an applicant pay money to anyone to be engaged as either an Enumerator or Supervisor.
