Bologna University NRRP PhD International Student Scholarships 2023
The University of Bologna offers PhD scholarships to foreign students in collaboration with NRRP. The scholarship provides the PhD student with compensation in the form of money and does not obligate the employee to enter into an employment contract with the company.
The three-year PhD scholarship has a total cost of €69,991 and an estimated net salary of about €1,200 per year. A further €600 per month is provided for the six months that each PhD student spends studying abroad, for a total of €6,000 in financing for research-related expenses over the course of three years for each student.

Description of the Scholarship Program
The PhD program equips students with the knowledge and abilities needed to conduct high-caliber research and pursue advanced professional career pathways, not only in academic institutions but also in the public and commercial sectors. Additionally, PhD candidates will spend time conducting research and receiving training while on placement in a company and overseas.
The PhD program will teach students how to conduct independent, creative, and original research in a particular setting. They will also learn valuable transferable skills that go beyond mastering their specialty area, such as the capacity to solve complex problems, deal with unforeseen circumstances, collaborate with others, and effectively communicate their findings.
Businesses, the manufacturing and service industries, as well as the public administration, place a high emphasis on these fundamental characteristics.
Eligibility Requirements
The requirements listed below must be satisfied by applicants in order to be considered for University of Bologna NRRP PhD Scholarships:
- Applicants must be students in the United States or abroad.
- A student enrolled in a second-cycle or single-cycle undergraduate program at the University of Bologna, another Italian institution, or a foreign university who will graduate by October 31, 2022;
- A graduate of the University of Bologna or another Italian or international university (second-cycle degree or single-cycle degree program).
- Candidates must provide evidence of their English language skills.
Application Methods

A selection process that is detailed in the call for applications must be passed in order to be accepted into a PhD program. This often involves an evaluation of the candidate’s credentials and project proposal in addition to an oral evaluation. Following that, candidates are ranked according to their scores.
Candidates are given scholarships based on their ranking, taking into account any reserved spots and/or other special instructions mentioned in the call for applications.
