Ban Ki-Global moon’s Citizen Scholarship Program for African Youth 2023
After many very successful rounds of the Global Citizen Scholarship Program, the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens (BKMC) is proud to announce another call for applications for what will be the 6th round of the GC Scholarship. The goal is to give young African global citizens who are passionate about taking action for the UN Sustainable Development Goals the tools they need to do so (SDGs).
The GC Scholarship is a fully online scholarship program that gives young African change-makers the tools they need to work on one or more of the SDGs in their community by proposing and implementing a localized SDG Micro-Project and taking part in a summer school and expert training and workshops on specific topics.
Requirements
The training is for 15 young people ages 20 to 35 from an African country who want to make a difference.
Eligibility
Are you…
- A young, active African citizen leader between the ages of 20 and 35
- The Sustainable Development Goals are a set of goals set by the United Nations (SDGs)
- MCI Innsbruck held an online summer school for people who wanted to learn more about entrepreneurship for sustainable development.
- Ready to do something about one or more of the SDGs in your community by proposing and carrying out a localized SDG Micro-Project from May to December 2023?
MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S FUNDS
Qualification
- At least a B2 level of English
- Completed at least one year of a master’s program, been working toward a Ph.D., or are within two years of graduating from a master’s program or higher.
Benefits
- The chosen scholars will have the chance to learn more about Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals
- Over the course of 8 months, learn more about entrepreneurship for sustainable development, and connect with other professionals in the field.
- Aside from this, some of the other benefits you’ll get are full coverage for summer school training with MCI Innsbruck and coverage for other expert workshops, a USD 500,000 seed grant to support the implementation of an SDG Micro-Project, which will be given to you after you submit a project proposal that is accepted, and a trip to the United Nations in New York City to learn about the SDGs.
A Certificate of Achievement signed by Co-chairs of the Ban Ki-moon Centre is given when the SDG Micro-Project is done well.
How to nominate someone:
During the process of nomination, you will need to:
- Your personal details (e.g. name, contact information, date of birth, address, citizenship, gender, education, language competence, short profile description)
- Your professional details (e.g. academic titles, name of organization, function)
Details on the SDG Micro-Project (title, issues, and SDGs tackled, general process and implementation) - During the last step of the nomination process, you will be asked to attach:
- a motivation letter (max 250 words)
- a picture of you by yourself (JPEG or PNG format)
- a video of yourself that introduces you (max 30 seconds, MP4 or MOV format)
