Ayermesu Kperti flood victims receive relief items

The flooding which occurred on 12th and 13th October, 2019 displaced over thirty(30) households. The National Disaster Management Organization(NADMO) Director for Lower Manya Krobo, Mr. Zakaria Adam said, no causality was recorded at the time the inventories were taken.

Ayermesu Kperti is a predominantly farming community in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region. It shares boundary with Asuogyaman District.

According to the Municipal Chief Executive for Lower Manya Krobo, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, several distressed calls were received when the disaster occurred which he acted on and immediately led a team of the Municipal NADMO officers to see things for himself and also assess the extend of damages to ensure that those affected bounce back to full active life.

Deputy Minister for Eastern Region and 2020 NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Lower Manya Krobo, Hon. Samuel Nuertey Ayertey who led the delegation to donate the relief items urged the victims to be strong amidst their difficulties. He also reveals that their roads have been captured awaiting approval and subsequent awards of the contract for work to commence.

The deputy minister further disclosed a 6 unit classroom block he has lobbied for the community. He said this initiative was very necessary due to the current unhealthy state of the facility occupied by the pupils.

“Again, I have lobbied for 1No. 6 Classroom block for your community and before the year ends, there will be a brief groundbreaking ceremony for work to begin” He stressed.

Few months ago, similar flooding hit Ayermesu Kpeti basic school which rendered the school structure ramshackle. This necessitate putting up of a new structure for the school to enhance effective academic work.

Some of the items donated include 10 bags of 25kg royal feast rice, 5 bundles of slightly used cloths,10 boxes of mosquito coils, 30 rubber marts, 2bags of 50kg sugar, 60pieces of blanket, 3 boxes of 5litre frytol oil, Rubber buckets, cups and rubber bowls,10 boxes of soap and 5 bags of 10kg maize.

The community has also been captured under the rural electrification project as electricity poles have already been planted awaiting wiring.

The MCE and the Deputy Minister both reiterated their commitment and the Government of His Excellency Akufo-Addo’s, to ensure that the community get what is due them.

The Assemblyman for the area, Mr. Emmanuel Amoah Kwao who spoke on behalf of the joyful residents thanks the delegation for the gesture and the projects outlined to take place in his Electoral Area. He promised their full support to see to the completion of the projects.

Also part of the delegation were the NPP Constituency Chairman, Mr. Charles Borkor, Constituency Organizer, Mr. Michael Mensah, Constituency Women Organizer, Madam Prisca Addai-Manu, Constituency Financial Secretary, Mr. Batsa Felix, some staff from the Assembly and other Party executives.
