Applications are open for students all over the world to apply for the 2023 Loughborough University Scholarship. Kindly read and follow the application process outlined below to apply:

Project Specifics

The academic group known as “Work and Organization” brings together academics from various fields who are interested in a variety of “people management” concerns. The team carries out research in the fields of organizational studies, HRM, and work psychology.

As a Ph.D. student, you would join a vibrant community, take advantage of our group’s exciting research culture, and conduct innovative, cutting-edge research with top researchers from across the world.

Priority research areas

We are especially interested in receiving Ph.D. research proposals in the following areas at the Work and Organization group:

1 . Technology and businesses

Workplace digitalization, including new methods for hiring staff, altered working conditions, algorithmic management, and developments brought on by artificial intelligence.

2 . Changing Workplace Procedures

The growth of atypical work includes concerns with precarious employment, identity, the meaning of work, job insecurity, and employability, as well as changes in the supply and demand for highly skilled workers, employment opportunities, and skills.

Employee health and wellbeing: increasing gender equality, eliminating bullying, promoting dignity and respect, strengthening leadership, the standard of living at work, and looking into personality difficulties

2 . Environmental and Social issues

Citizenship, accountability, and sustainability: consequences for businesses, executives, workplace culture, and the economy.

Employee engagement and voice in MNCs: advancing shared interests in sustainable business and ethical employment practices.

Supervisors

Dr. Eva Selenko is a primary supervisor and CDT lead.

Entry Prerequisites

a minimum of a 2:1 honors degree (or an international comparable qualification), but a UK master’s degree (with an average program mark of at least 65%) or an international equivalent is preferred.

English language proficiency needed

IELTS band 7.0 or higher, with no component scoring lower than 7.0.

Loughborough University Scholarship Details

Qualification Type: PhD

Funding for: UK Students, EU Students, International Students
Funding amount: £17,668 tax free stipend per annum
Hours: Full Time

Loughborough University Scholarship Funding

The three-year studentship includes tuition expenses as well as a minimum tax-free stipend of £17,668 each year for the term of the studentship.

Please be aware that applicants who have applied within the School will be given studentships on a competitive basis. Funding choices won’t be finalized until the beginning of 2023.

How To Apply?

  • Choose from the aforementioned list a research priority area and probable supervisor(s).
  • Get your research proposal together.
  • Discuss your research project with the identified supervisor(s) and make sure they are ready to support your application by naming themselves. You are also urged to seek criticism as you refine your research idea.
  • Online submission of your formal application

Select Business School under “Programme Name.” A research proposal, copies of your transcripts and certifications, an English language proficiency certificate, and two academic references should all be uploaded with your application.

See the standards for studentship assessment

The interview procedure is structured as follows for chosen applicants:

  • Between February 6 and February 28, 2023, the nominated supervisor will be subject to a first round of interviews.
  • Selected candidates will go through a second round of interviews between March 6 and March 24, 2023. The Director of the Doctoral Program, the Head of the pertinent discipline group, and the Associate Dean for Research and Innovation will be on the interview panel.
