POSITION: Student Researcher 

Google invites applications for its 2026 Student Researcher Program, fostering academic collaboration by hiring students onto cutting-edge research projects aligned with the company’s scientific priorities. The program offers placements across Google, Google DeepMind, Google Research, and Google Cloud teams in various locations, including Accra, Ghana. About the Program and Its Impact

This program provides direct, exploratory research experiences focused on solving real-world, large-scale problems. As a Student Researcher, you will work collaboratively on innovative projects that drive scientific advancement and support the creation of breakthrough technologies across fields like AI, machine learning, and sustainable computing. You will join researchers building the next generation of intelligent systems that impact billions of users globally.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Natural Sciences, or a related field.
  • Possess practical experience in at least one area of computer science, such as Natural Language Understanding, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Data Science, Software Engineering, or similar disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program within the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region and planning to return to the program after the internship.
  • Have prior research experience through internships, full-time roles, or lab work.
  • Have contributed to research communities, evidenced by publishing papers in major conferences or journals.
  • Demonstrate experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages like Python, Java, C++, or MATLAB.
