Job Description

  • JOB TITLE: MEL Advisor – Ghana Somubi Dwumadie Programme 
  • Location: Accra, Ghana
  • Hours: 40 hours
  • Contract: full time, fixed term contract –  15 months

Job Purpose

Tropical Health is seeking an organised and committed individual with technical expertise in the field of health programme monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), including leadership of system development and implementation.

Moreover, The applicant should be able to confidently engage with teams, partners and stakeholders to strengthen individual and institutional MEL.

Also, They should have experience with demonstrated results, in leading the MEL of grant programmes, including results based reports and reviews.

In addition, They should have demonstrated experience of managing complex MEL systems, data collection and analysis. Knowledge of complex programmes particularly FCDO is important.  Understanding of social inclusion, safeguarding and value for money principles for M&E purposes, and a working knowledge of the MEL experience in the context of programme delivery by a consortium of organisations is essential.

Furthermore, This role will be responsible for leading and building the capacity of a small team of direct and matrix reports (Communications Manager and Learning Manager), and provide mentoring, capacity building and quality assurance for the Grants M&E Officer.

Finally, They will need to liaise closely with programme staff to build a collaborative MEL team culture while managing competing deadlines to meet tight timelines.

Required Skills or Experience

  • The MEL Advisor should hold a Masters degree in a post graduate qualification in Social Sciences (e.g. international development, public health, monitoring and evaluation).
  • The successful candidate will be able to work with diverse, large teams and to foster positive technical working relationships with colleagues and partners at different levels, across countries, organisations and teams.
  • Lastly, Facilitation and networking skills are key, along with effective and strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
