New Job Recruitment at Rainforest Alliance
POSITION: Senior Associate, Cocoa Supply Chain & Project M&E
Position Overview:
The Rainforest Alliance has initiated a new stage of a worldwide M&E project targeting the cocoa industry, in collaboration with one of our longstanding strategic private sector partners. This initiative aims to speed up our partners’ regenerative shift and assist producers in their cocoa supply chain to achieve greater efficiency, resilience, and prosperity on a large scale.
This encompasses comprehensive, scientifically supported impact assessment and evaluation for adaptive management in 4 countries. By enhancing the existing M&E system to improve operational execution, scope, and speed, and by delivering actionable data-driven insights on interventions and their effects, we assist our partner in expediting their regenerative transitions, meeting objectives, and directing further investments.
Consequently, we are seeking a Senior Associate for Supply Chain and Project Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) to oversee and implement the monitoring and evaluation activities of this project in Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana. This position will report to the M&E Specialist for Cocoa Supply Chain.
With oversight, the Senior Associate will guarantee that all project outcomes are achieved in every country, offering input for reporting and system enhancements while ensuring strong data collection, analysis, and quality assurance. In conjunction with the project management, the Senior Associate will collaborate with M&E partners, the local teams of our partner, and guarantee the dissemination of results and findings as needed.
We are looking for a self-driven M&E expert who is practical, outcome-focused, possesses keen attention to detail, quality, and precision, and has a strong passion for environmental concerns.
Duties:
- Manage and coordinate the implementation of the supply chain M&E project in Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana, overseeing tasks like designing surveys, translating surveys (when necessary), testing the survey app, conducting enumerator training, and supervising field data collection;
- Facilitate internal collaboration with members of the Rainforest Alliance project team and other essential internal departments, as needed;
- Assess and develop instructions for the survey instruments/questionnaires, along with all essential training resources for M&E collaborators;
- Create plans for visiting the selected sample of farms.
- Assist data collection teams by clarifying M&E concepts, outlining fundamental cocoa production practices, and organizing logistics;
- Perform quality control on data, conduct statistical analyses, and create M&E reports;
- Share the essential findings or outcomes of the M&E with both company partners and stakeholders.
- Supervise and manage M&E partners in carrying out field monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tasks, which include (but are not limited to) hiring data collectors/M&E partners, arranging training, and facilitating payments;
- Additional responsibilities as designated.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, forestry, natural resources, environmental management, or a similar area;
- A minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in executing monitoring and evaluation or agricultural supply chains, overseeing data collection teams, and analyzing and synthesizing data;
- Understanding of statistical concepts and the principles, practices, and methods involved in project monitoring and evaluation;
- Effective leadership and communication abilities, adept at leading M&E training sessions and supporting data collection teams in often difficult global environments; proven capability to impart knowledge to varied audiences through training and mentorship;
- Capability to function in a fast-paced project with shifting demands, obstacles, and strict deadlines, showcasing adaptability and the ability to take responsibility for providing solutions;
- Exhibit self-drive and the capacity to take initiative, functioning autonomously with little oversight, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams;
- Experience in database management is crucial; familiarity with statistical software (Stata, SPSS, R, etc.) and data visualization tools (Power BI, etc.) is advantageous;
- A solid understanding of the cocoa situation in West Africa is an advantage;
- Proficiency in English and French;
- Willingness to travel at least 20% annually, both domestically and internationally
