POSITION: INVENTORY AND LOGISTICS MANAGER
OBJECTIVE:
The Logistics & Inventory Manager will oversee and enhance the complete logistics, warehousing, and inventory processes for Genser Energy. This position will guarantee the effective, safe, and economical transfer, storage, and monitoring of materials and equipment in accordance with operational priorities.
The Manager will work closely with the Procurement, Maintenance, and Operations teams to ensure material availability while enhancing logistics coordination, inventory accuracy, fleet efficiency, and warehouse effectiveness. The perfect candidate will possess strong technological skills and operational expertise, capable of spearheading automation, standardization, and ongoing enhancement efforts within logistics and inventory operations.
DUTIES:
SUPPLY CHAIN & STOCK CONTROL
Strategic Leadership in Logistics and Inventory
- Create and execute logistics and inventory control plans that are in line with Genser Energy’s operational goals.
- Define KPIs and performance measures to track logistics effectiveness, inventory precision, fleet usage, and delivery schedules.
- Anticipate inventory requirements and storage capabilities in close partnership with Maintenance and Operations teams to facilitate both regular and urgent work tasks.
- Offer strategic direction for all inventory processes, encompassing receiving, storage, distribution, stock monitoring, and reconciliation at all Genser operational locations.
Management of Logistics and Improvement
- Manage comprehensive logistics functions for Offshore Ocean and Air Freight, Port Operations, Onshore Road Transport, and internal distribution to guarantee the prompt and compliant transfer of materials and equipment.
- Oversee connections with third-party logistics providers, freight forwarders, and port authorities to guarantee excellent service delivery and cost management.
- Create and implement routing plans and delivery timelines that enhance fleet efficiency, shorten lead times, and boost reliability on both domestic and international routes.
- Make certain that every logistical operation, encompassing the handling of hazardous materials and gas transport, adheres to Genser’s HSE policies, industry guidelines, and environmental criteria.
Inventory Management & Oversight
- Oversee cycle counts, year-end audits, and variance investigations, and execute corrective measures to ensure high inventory accuracy.
- Utilize ERP systems (such as Sage X3) to guarantee immediate visibility of inventory levels, aid in decision-making, and facilitate effective stock replenishment.
- Advocate for lean inventory strategies, such as Just-In-Time (JIT), minimum/maximum thresholds, and safety stock computations to harmonize material accessibility with capital efficiency.
Fiscal Oversight & Expense Regulation
- Create, oversee, and track yearly and monthly budgets for logistics, storage, and fleet operations in accordance with departmental goals.
- Examine factors affecting logistics and inventory expenses, then apply cost-reduction strategies while maintaining service quality and safety standards.
- Deliver consistent financial reports, encompassing forecasts, variance analyses, and expenditure tracking for all logistics and inventory-related operations.
- Partner with Finance and Accounting to enable smooth cost distribution, expense validation, and audit preparedness related to inventory transfers and logistics expenditures.
Governance, Risk Management & Safety Supervision
- Guarantee complete adherence to local and global transport regulations, port authority mandates, customs regulations, and environmental standards governing logistics and inventory operations.
- Create, execute, and routinely revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all logistics functions, encompassing offshore shipments, storage methods, and material management.
- Collaborate with the HSE team to maintain safety standards across all operational areas, such as fleet safety, equipment handling, and storage conditions.
- Recognize and actively handle risks like shipping delays, damaged goods, inventory loss, or regulatory violations, and create backup strategies.
BUDGETING
- Oversee the development of the monthly budget.
- Create and oversee all budget components, encompassing expense management and spending predictions.
- Make sure the budget aligns with the planned activities of the department.
DEVELOPMENT OF ORGANIZATION
- Oversee the team to carry out designated projects on time and within the budget.
- Conduct evaluations of performance and create development plans for junior employees.
- Manage the leave timetable for subordinate employees.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Business Administration is required.
- A master’s degree or applicable certifications (such as PMP, CILT, APICS, CSCP) is required.
- Experience in multicultural settings is necessary.
- Fluency in French or Chinese is an advantage.
EXPERTISE & BACKGROUND:
- At least 10+ years of experience in a comparable position, ideally within the Oil & Gas sector.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Expertise in ERP systems (SAP, Sage X3)
- Thorough comprehension of Ghanaian transport laws, customs procedures, and supply chain compliance standards.
