Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke is searching for a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist and Deputy Medical Director. This role centers on providing senior medical support for Sandford Ward, which specializes in female acute care with 16 beds. Job Duties

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will include:

Leading high-quality care for individuals admitted to Sandford Ward.
Acting as a positive role model for patients and the multidisciplinary team.
Overseeing patient treatment plans in collaboration with nursing and therapy staff.
Conducting mental state examinations and assessing referrals.
Performing diagnoses, investigations, and treatments as necessary.
Leading ward rounds, patient reviews, and clinical audits.
Implementing risk management and clinical governance within the service.
Supervising reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and attending relevant hearings.
Maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records.
Communicating effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
Attending academic meetings and engaging in continuous professional development (CPD).

Job Requirements

Ideal candidates for this role will possess:

Full GMC registration with an MBBS or equivalent qualification.
Registration on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12, and AC Status.
Extensive experience in General Adult Psychiatry and mental health diagnoses.
Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to interview, assess, and treat patients.
A commitment to ongoing professional development.
Capability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Membership in the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
