Job Title: CIB Credit Analyst

We do not just follow trends. Also, we design for the shapeshifters. We deliver products and services that make us incredibly proud of the people who make it happen. Consequently, we are looking for a sharp, analytical, and detail obsessed CIB Credit Analyst to join our Corporate Credit team.

This is not a number crunching back office role. It is a strategic position at the heart of our Corporate and Investment Banking division. You will analyse complex credit data, estimate risk, and consult with management to shape corporate planning. You will be surrounded by unique talents and diverse minds in an adaptable environment that lives up to the promise of staying curious.

Core Responsibilities

As our CIB Credit Analyst, you will be the expert who looks beyond the balance sheet. You will identify transaction specific risks, introduce mitigating measures, and structure deals that align with our risk philosophy. Your insights will directly influence which opportunities we seize and how we structure them for success.

Your core responsibilities will include:

Comprehensive Credit Analysis

  • Analyse Credit Data Thoroughly: You will dig deep into financial reports to estimate the degree of risk in extending credit or lending money to corporate clients. You will leave no stone unturned.
  • Understand the Economic Environment: You will relate broader economic trends and business risks to specific client opportunities. You will see how external factors shape individual risk profiles.
  • Model Industry and Company Risks: You will assess and advise on industry specific risks and company specific vulnerabilities. You will build models that quantify these risks clearly.

Transaction Structuring & Risk Mitigation

  • Identify Transaction Specific Risks: You will spot risks across multiple domains including credit, taxation, accounting, and legal structures. You will flag these issues early in the deal process.
  • Introduce Risk Mitigating Measures: You will not just identify problems; you will propose solutions. You will structure transactions with safeguards that protect the bank while enabling business.
  • Understand Legal Frameworks: You will apply your knowledge of the Ghana Companies Act, Tax regulations, Commercial Law, and legal issues relating to security. You will ensure every deal stands on solid legal ground.

Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting

  • Keep Pulse on Market Events: You will stay constantly updated on news and events that might affect various individual counterparties and portfolios. You will anticipate changes before they impact performance.
  • Apply Credit Grading Models: You will use and refine credit grading and credit pricing models to ensure accurate risk assessment and appropriate pricing.
  • Present Findings Clearly: You will prepare compelling reports and presentations for management. You will communicate complex risk assessments in clear, actionable language.

The Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a curious and courageous thinker. You are driven by the desire to know more and learn more. You understand what it takes to master your craft, and you constantly push yourself to improve. Moreover, you thrive in a collaborative environment where the best ideas win.

To excel in this role, you will need:

Qualifications & Experience

  • A relevant Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Between 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar credit analysis or risk management environment, preferably within corporate or investment banking.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Deep understanding of the economic environment and how it impacts business risk.
  • The ability to dissect financial reports and extract meaningful insights about client risk profiles.
  • Strong grasp of credit grading models and credit pricing methodologies.

  • Proven ability to model, assess, and advise on industry and company specific risks.

Communication & Mindset

  • Excellent verbal communication skills to articulate complex ideas clearly.
  • Strong presentation and report writing abilities. You can tailor your message for different audiences.
  • A curious and courageous mindset. You are not afraid to ask tough questions or challenge assumptions.
