Core Responsibilities

As our Account Officer, you will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. You will act as a crucial gatekeeper for company funds and a key contributor to our financial accuracy. Your role goes beyond simple data entry. You will ensure every cedi is accounted for, every transaction follows strict professional standards, and every report reflects the true financial health of our operations.

Your core responsibilities will include:

Precision Transaction Management

  • Guard the Payment Gateway: You will meticulously review all requests for payments before any funds leave the company. Your attention to detail will be the final checkpoint, ensuring accuracy and preventing errors or discrepancies.
  • Apply Professional Standards Rigorously: You will deploy all core accounting principles in every single transaction. You will uphold the highest professional and ethical standards, ensuring our books are always clean and compliant.
  • Maintain Impeccable Records: You will handle financial documentation with care and accuracy, keeping everything organized and readily accessible for review or reporting.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare Key Financial Statements: You will be conversant with the preparation of financial statements. You will assist in compiling data that provides a clear picture of our financial position to the CFO and management.
  • Support Strategic Decisions: Your accurate record keeping and analytical skills will directly support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
  • Collaborate with the Team: You will work closely with other departments to ensure financial processes run smoothly. You understand that finance is not an island, and you will communicate clearly to support the broader business.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
  • Between 2 and 4 years of proven, hands-on experience working as an Account Officer or in a similar financial role.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with practical accounting skills. You can interpret data and apply it to real world scenarios.
  • An almost obsessive attention to detail. You understand that in accounting, small errors can have big consequences, so you check your work thoroughly.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. You can create spreadsheets, use formulas, and manage data effectively.
  • The ability to work seamlessly as part of a team. You are cooperative, communicative, and ready to support your colleagues.
  • A solid understanding of financial statement preparation and the principles that govern them.
  • The ability to follow instructions precisely while also using your initiative to solve problems within your scope.
