WAEC Releases Date for Registration of 2021 Private BECE

The West African Examinations Council wishes to inform members of the public that the registration for the Basic Education Certificate Examination for Private Candidates, 2021, begins on 11th January will end March 1, 2021.

Candidates are advised to read the Manual for Registration available on the website before proceeding to register. Registration for the examination is biometric and online for all candidates.

Candidates are required to capture their fingerprints at internet cafés with the requisite equipment to begin registration. Candidates may continue the registration process on their own after the capture of fingerprints. Without the fingerprints of the bona fide candidate, the registration is null and void.

Upon submission of their entries online, candidates should print an invoice that they would submit to a participating bank to effect payment by cash. They may also pay directly from their mobile money account by dialing the short code *944#.

The examination is open to Re-sitters – i.e. candidates who previously sat for BECE but could not make the required grade(s). A Re-sitter must provide an index number for the last sitting and the year of the examination.

The Council wishes to caution all prospective Candidates that it is illegal for School Candidates (JHS students) to enter for the BECE for Private Candidates.

Notes for the Guidance of Candidates Directions to Candidates Timetable Fee Schedule Candidates are advised to read the entire Manual for Registration carefully and follow the instructions. They are also requested to make payments directly to participating banks or through mobile money and not through internet café operators.

The Council urges all candidates to avoid mistakes in their bio-data as requests for change of date of birth will not be entertained after the release of results.
