UK IMMIGRATION ANNOUNCEMENTS | 3 IMPORTANT UK VISA UPDATES & CHANGES FOR 2023
Are you interested in traveling to the UK? If Yes, then this article will be very important as it details key changes to the UK Immigration Rules in 2023.
The UK government put forward a statement of changes to the immigration rules on 9th March 2023. Immigration is undoubtedly a contentious topic this year, and it can be challenging to keep up with all the developments.
Innovator Founder Route
2019 saw rather rigorous eligibility restrictions for the Innovator Visa. However, the newly introduced Innovator Founder route seems promising for individuals genuinely interested in setting up businesses in the UK.
- The new route will become available for new applicants in April 2023. Most crucially, starting on April 13, 2023, business applications and sponsorship deals will not be accepted through the Start-Up pathway.
- Another good thing about the new Innovator Founder route is that it doesn’t demand applicants to have £50,000 while applying.
- Additionally, the new permits allow holders to seek employment elsewhere while running their businesses. The goal of this entire process is to recruit brilliant and experienced entrepreneurs to the UK.
- By luring in new investors and expanding the number of candidates, the UK government hopes to enhance the nation’s economy.
Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) Scheme
Strengthening border security has been one of the top priorities of UK immigration policy this year. This scheme is for people belonging to specific countries who don’t need a visa to visit or travel through the UK.
Most importantly, the ETA scheme will become operational from 15th November 2023 for people coming from Qatar. Later on, it will be extended to the citizens of Jordan, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the UAE from 15th February 2024.
However, the process of this scheme hasn’t been disclosed yet. Nonetheless, we are aware that additional countries will incorporate into their program in phases and that it will be obligatory for travelers who don’t need visas to enter the UK for a little time to do so.
Increased Salary Requirements for Different Visa Routes
- In other news, due to increased inflation, the minimum wage criterion for the Skilled Worker path is now £26,200 instead of £25,600.
- The wage criteria for the Global Investment Mobility: Senior or Specialized route – raised by the government to £45,800 and £24,220, respectively.
- Moreover, the Scale-up Worker visa’s income threshold has increased to £34,600.
All prospective applicants applying for visas under these routes should be fully aware of these changes to avoid refusals in the case of non-compliance.
