Trade NL issues $10,000 in Scholarships

Trades NL has offered $10,000 in scholarships to some dependents of building trade members who want to pursue post-secondary education.

Darin King who is the  Executive Director states that the annual scholarship offered to dependents of its members shows the goodwill of building trades unions to offer financial support to the next generation as they pursue higher education and career. Trades NL has awarded 35 scholarships to dependents of skilled trades members for the past four years.

About Trade NL scholarships

Every year, the organization offers financial support to dependents of trade members who want to further their education. This is because they know how important education is to these people. The scholarship is offered based on the scholarship requirements and merits. It is also open to eligible candidates irrespective of race, age, religion, or sexual orientation.

What qualifies you for the Trade NL scholarship

Those who qualify for this scholarship must first of all be dependents of a member of one of the NL Building Trades Union. Also, the dependents include a child, grandchild, or partner of a member.

Again, the applicant should have completed their high school. And have gotten enrolled full-time at a recognized post-secondary school.

Also, the applicant should be a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador.

What are the requirements for the NL trade scholarship?

Applicants are to submit the following as they apply for the scholarship.

  • Firstly, an applicant should submit the NL Trade scholarship form
  • Secondly, applicants must have the transcript from their high school
  • Thirdly, their resume should give details about yourself
  • Also, an acceptance letter from the post-secondary school you applied to.
  • Additionally, Two letters of recommendation
  • Lastly, a 250-word essay on The value of unionized skilled trade workers or How can Newfoundland & Labrador, as a province, encourage and incentivize an increase of more diverse groups (I.e. women, indigenous, and other minority groups) to become skilled trade workers?
