Communications expert, Kwame Gyan has advised Ghanaian media personality and screen goddess, Serwaa Amihere to put some efforts in doing research before hosting interviews.
Following Serwaa Amihere’s interview with information minister, Hon. Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah which was described by many as a terrible one, the communications expert took to his twitter handle to advise the journalist.
During the interview with the information minister, Serwaa Amihere asked why those involved in the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election incident have still not been punished. As a response to the question, the minister turned the table to ask Serwaa a question which caused her to fumble a little. This to many people was a clear indication that she was not abreast enough on that question.
Most of her critics asserted she was not on top of issues and she failed to research enough before the show was aired.
However, Serwaa has rebutted that some people are misrepresenting what happened in her interview with the information Minister because of their political interest. She has therefore urged them to watch the full interview and then draw a fair conclusion.
According to Kwame Gyan on this issue, serious journalists decline or postpone interviews because they feel unprepared but that didn’t happen in Serwaa’s case.
He advised that Serwaa Amihere should invest in her research the same way she invests in her looks.
“Serwaa paaaaa. You failed the Fundamentals of journalism- research b4 interviews. And when you are caught off guard you say we should ignore the lopsided kominini of party fanatics. Sister, the same effort you put in your looks before a TV show, do same with research” he wrote.
See post below:
Please don't hide behind 'party fanatics'. If you had read that report before sitting for the interview, this part of the interview wouldn't even have been the focus. Again, research BEFORE interviews, not AFTER. Simple. https://t.co/oMWYxd7G1z

Serious journalists sometimes decline or postpone interviews because they feel unprepared.
