Taiwan Travel Guide 2023 – Requirements

Do you have any Taiwan travel plans for 2023? If so, you most likely have a lot of inquiries swirling about in your mind. Do Filipinos still need a visa to enter Taiwan? Do I still have to go through the required quarantine? What criteria must be met during testing? Should I bring my immunization documentation? Not to worry. In this article, we’ll provide answers to all of these queries and more.

Travel Requirements when Visiting Taiwan

Is Taiwan Visa-free?

YES. Philippine citizens do not need a visa to visit Taiwan for up to 14 days. Visa-free travel to Taiwan is available to Filipino nationals until 31 July 2024.

Keep in mind that this also applies to Filipino tourists visiting Taiwan. Those traveling to study or work can still need a visa.

Taiwan Entry Requirements

Taiwan still doesn’t require a visa for Filipino travelers, but that doesn’t mean you can just walk right in. The complete list of requirements for leisure travel to Taiwan is as follows:

  • A passport (valid for at least six months)
  • Proof of lodging which may include a hotel reservation confirmation or the address and phone number of your Taiwanese sponsor.
  • Exit ticket, which could be a flight back to the Philippines or another destination.

Is vaccination documentation necessary?

NO. No immunization documentation will be required by Taiwanese authorities. There is no need for a vaccination record or certificate. Having said that, bring your immunization documentation if you have it. It’s best to have it on hand in case the rules change while you’re traveling or if the airline requests it nevertheless.

Put Taiwan at the top of your bucket list if you’ve always wanted to travel there because it’s now one of the easiest countries to do so.

What if my trip to Taiwan lasts less than seven days? Can I still come visit?

YES. You DO NOT need to spend at least 7 days in Taiwan to participate in the 7-day preventive program.

Where to Book Tours

While it is feasible to see Taipei independently, taking a tour has many advantages, especially if you’re traveling in a large group, with children or the elderly, or if you simply don’t want to bother with the finer details of creating an itinerary.

You could join a scheduled tour if you’re traveling alone or in a small group. If your group is larger, it is preferable to have them create an itinerary for you depending on your tastes and schedule. Each tour is also accompanied by a knowledgeable English-speaking guide, which is important because Taipei’s and the region’s sights aren’t usually strikingly beautiful. Most are historical or cultural attractions that you’ll enjoy much more if you understand their context or if you have local insights.

Rainbow Village, Taiwan

Art has proven to be a potent means of expressing one’s thoughts and emotions throughout history. Additionally, it has developed into a powerful forum for challenging conventional wisdom and promoting discussion of social concerns. Street art is the best example of this.

Veteran soldier Huang Yung-Fu created a well-known street art attraction in Taichung City. A former community for Chinese Civil War veterans is called Rainbow Village in Nantun District. Mr. Huang began painting the remaining structures to prevent them from being destroyed and replaced with more contemporary ones.

The Rainbow Village was saved from demolition after university teachers and their students learned about Grandpa Huang and his artworks. As a result, the Rainbow Village is now preserved as a cultural asset. And before they knew it, tourists from all over the world were flocking there as a popular tourist destination!

Here are a few things that first-time visitors might wish to be aware of.

Operating hours of Rainbow Village

The Rainbow Village office or the Story Room area is open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM despite being an open-space exhibit.

Cost of admission ticket

The Rainbow Village has a FREE entry! Without investing a dollar, you may take pictures of yourself and your friends against the vibrant and eye-catching background. Make the most of your visit because it’s a little out of the way from the city center!

Best time to Visit

Due to its tiny size, the neighborhood can occasionally become congested, particularly on weekends and holidays. Because of the lighting, early morning or late afternoon are the best times to visit if you want to take pictures. The light at noon is rather harsh and not ideal for taking pictures.

Tourist Attractions at Rainbow Village

Artworks

The entire facility is photogenic. The artist’s casual brushstrokes and upbeat artworks bring life to the walls and complicated grounds. With Rainbow Grandpa’s creations as your backdrop, take pictures with your friends.

Souvenir Shops

Even the gift shops are colorful and entertaining! The goods available in the shops are replicas of Rainbow Grandpa’s artwork. Numerous items, including printed t-shirts, an umbrella, passport wallets, magnets, hats, purses, mugs, and postcards, are available. Hongfu is the name of the smaller store, and Art Color Main Shop is the name of the larger outdoor store. You can see Rainbow Grandpa in person later. You can talk to him, snap pictures with him, or do both.

Story Room

The Story Room will explain how it all began if you’re interested in learning more about the origins of Rainbow Village and the artist.

Thunder Egg

Tea eggs known as “thunder eggs” are available here. The eggs’ shells are left on while they are boiled with tea (oolong, black tea, etc.). In Taiwan, tea eggs are incredibly popular. Along with ice cream, the shop sells rainbow and plum popsicles. Next to the Art Color Main Shop is where the store is situated.

Fun Bar

The major products sold in this store are beverages. It includes coffee, marbled soda, bubble tea, and more! Just before the entrance back to the playground area, there is a store.

Nearby Restaurants & Food Places

Along Lingdong South Road, where the Rainbow Village bus stop is also situated, there are two close-by eateries. Mao Men and Hong Ya Hamburger are these.

Other Rainbow Village Tips

  • Most importantly, avoid wearing tops with busy prints or graphics. Wear plain bright shirts, so you will pop against The patterns in the artwork and won’t be harmed by the backdrop or your outfit. Be aware that red is the predominant hue. Also, make sure you dress comfortably, including your shoes.
  • Also, apply sunscreen cream or lotion or bring sun protection.
  • Next, be considerate of others. Avoid spending an excessive amount of time taking images. Allow others to also enjoy the area.
  • Additionally, get fully charged smartphones on hand, or pack a power bank.
  • Besides that, bring your water bottle that you may refill to stay hydrated.
  • Above all, the restroom is next to the parking area and behind the playground for kids.
