About the University of New Haven Scholarships

Based on academic merit, full-time master’s students, both domestic and foreign, are chosen for a Dean’s Scholarship following a thorough examination of each applicant’s supporting documentation. For the duration of their education at the University of New Haven, the program offers up to 50% tuition support.

Concerning the University of New Haven

The University of New Haven is a private, coeducational university that was established on the Yale campus in 1920. It has received recognition for academic quality from The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report. Situated in the coastal city of West Haven, halfway between New York City and Boston, the university is home to almost 8,800 students from all over the world. It is a vibrant and diverse community.

Over the past ten years, the university has introduced over 80 new degree and certificate programs, as well as specialized areas of study, and completed over $300 million in major capital projects. The university also maintains campuses in Orange, Connecticut, and Tuscany, Italy.

Scholarship Categories and Benefits

ACCESSIBLE TO NEW STUDENTS

Presidential Scholarship: $21,000 – $26,000

This grant is awarded to a student who has excelled academically in high school. The Presidential Scholarship is awarded based on the academic standing of the student in high school. The annual awards vary from $21,000 to $26,000.

Guaranteed for your first year, the Presidential Scholarship is renewable annually as long as you continue to be a full-time undergraduate student and make good academic progress toward a bachelor’s degree. It is solely applicable to tuition and is renewable for a maximum of ten semesters.

Distinguished Scholar Awards: $15,000–$20,000

This scholarship is given to high school graduates who have excelled academically but may not meet the qualifications for the First-Year Presidential Scholarship. The prize money is between $15,000 and $20,000.

Guaranteed for your first year, the Distinguished Scholar Award is renewable annually as long as you continue to be a full-time undergraduate student and make good academic progress toward a bachelor’s degree. It is solely applicable to tuition and is renewable for a maximum of ten semesters.

Charger Award: $10,000 – $14,000

Students who perform well academically year after year but might not be eligible for one of the other academic honors (Presidential and Distinguished Scholarships) are given this award.

Guaranteed for your first year, the Charger Award is renewable as long as you continue to be a full-time undergraduate student, maintain the necessary minimum GPA, and make good progress toward your bachelor’s degree. It is only applicable to tuition and is renewable for a maximum of eight semesters.

How To Apply?

  • All you have to do to be eligible for one of our academic scholarships is apply for full-time undergraduate admission. You will be immediately considered for an academic scholarship if you are accepted.
  • Your academic standing at the time of your admissions decision will be taken into consideration when making award determinations.
  • To be eligible for an academic award, students must have a completed admissions application on file by May 1 for the fall semester or January 1 for the spring semester.
  • Financial resources are the determining factor for awards.
  • The student must have fulfilled our English language competence criteria to be eligible for the partial merit awards.
