Study In USA: James Madison University Scholarship 2024–25

Students from all over the world are cordially invited to submit their applications to James Madison University for the academic year 2024–2025. Forms of application are now being accepted for submission.

About James Madison University Scholarships

Each year, JMU awards more than 400 scholarships to new students, ranging in value and length from one to four years. The main requirement for scholarships awarded based on merit is outstanding academic achievement. Career objectives, leadership, and involvement may be additional selection criteria.

Concerning James Madison University

James Madison University, a public coeducational research institution in Harrisonburg, Virginia, is commonly referred to as JMU, Madison, or James Madison. Originally established as the State Normal and Industrial School for Women at Harrisonburg in 1908, the school changed its name to Madison College in 1938 to honor President James Madison. James Madison University was added to the institution’s name in 1977. The campus quadrangle in Harrisonburg is situated on South Main Street, while the institution itself is situated in the Shenandoah Valley.

The institution was renamed Madison College in 1938 in honor of James Madison, the fourth President of the United States, whose Montpelier home is situated in the neighboring town of Orange, Virginia. The university had previously operated as the State Teachers College at Harrisonburg in 1924 and continued to do so until 1938. James Madison University became the new name of the institution in 1976.

Julian Ashby Burruss served as the university’s first president. With 209 enrolled students and 15 faculty members, the institution welcomed its first class of students in 1909. Diplomas were awarded to its first twenty graduates in 1911.

With exceptionally engaged relationships between students and world-class faculty members who are here, because they want to explore knowledge and make teaching their top priority, JMU is quickly emerging as one of the country’s leading stars in higher education.

Acceptance Rate

The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching rates James Madison University as “more selective.” The university received over 22,648 applications for the Class of 2012, with 4,325 students expected to enroll for the 2012–2013 academic year. The ratio of female to male students in the freshman class of 2011–2012 was 60/40, while the retention percentage was 91.4%. Approximately 28% of all students come from outside the state, with representation from 89 different nations as well as all 50 states.
