About Clemson University Scholarships

Concerning Clemson University

By giving our students the best instruction and preparation possible, we hope to advance exceptional research and scholarship at Clemson University. Graduate students at Clemson University are committed to addressing the basic questions in their areas and, in keeping with the university’s contemporary land-grant purpose, are driven to use their knowledge for the good of society at large through service, teaching, research, and scholarship.

Clemson University is aware that equipping students with specialized technical knowledge alone will not suffice to prepare them for careers in the twenty-first century. Along with understanding the social and commercial ramifications of their work, engineers and scientists also need to be able to successfully communicate their ideas to a broad audience, collaborate well in groups, and, most importantly, take the initiative to solve societal issues.

Our teachers, staff, and students’ inventiveness and diligence will solidify our standing as international trailblazers in the domains of science and engineering, bringing about good changes to economies and technology worldwide.

MISSION

At the College of Engineering, Computing, and Applied Sciences (CECAS), our goal is to produce graduates who will be able to contribute to society and the global economy. Our academic system promotes cross-disciplinary collaboration because it is expected of today’s global citizens to have experience outside of their major area.

The autonomous degree programs in engineering, computers, and applied sciences work together to support the college’s overall performance. Furthermore, we offer many experiential learning opportunities that necessitate students applying their classroom knowledge and experience to real-world job settings.

VISION

Our goal is to produce scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs who can think critically, innovate, and grasp the social and commercial ramifications of their work. When recruiting new employees and keeping hold of current ones, we should look for those who can collaborate well with others and express their ideas clearly. Above all, the college offers leadership that contributes to resolving the major issues facing society.

Scholarship Categories and Benefits

First-year applicants are automatically evaluated for first-year recruiting scholarships if they submit their applications by the usual decision date of January 3 and send Clemson all necessary materials by January 8. To be eligible for diversity awards, applicants must submit their completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1st.

Unless otherwise specified on the first-year scholarship page, there is no separate application for diversity or recruiting scholarships for the first year.

To maintain their eligibility for their Clemson scholarships, continuing undergraduate students who receive recurrent university scholarships must file their FAFSA by April 2 of each year.

First-Year Recruiting Scholarships

Scholarships for first-year recruiting are highly competitive and exclusively offered to entering first-year students. These scholarships can cover the entire cost of attendance or $500 annually, and they are renewable for up to three more years as long as you continue to meet the minimum requirements.

If an academic recruitment scholarship is awarded to an out-of-state student, they may receive funding that partially or fully offsets the difference in tuition. These scholarships will be automatically assessed for you based on the data in your admissions application.

IN-STATE (SOUTH CAROLINA) STUDENTS

Residents of South Carolina who are incoming first-year students are eligible to apply for one of the following recruitment scholarships:

Scholarship for Resident Merit (or Other Named Scholarship)

A renewable merit award will be given to students who win the South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Scholarship and fulfill specific conditions regarding test scores, class rank, and other factors.

Annual or renewable scholarships from our endowments will be given to students who receive the South Carolina LIFE Scholarship and fulfill specific conditions regarding test scores, class rank, and other variables.

Merit awards and renewable grant funding will be considered for students who demonstrate financial need on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. To be eligible for need-based aid, incoming first-year students must submit their online FAFSA forms by March 1st at the latest.

Additional Scholarship Considerations

  • Not all scholarships, qualifying conditions, or renewability requirements are included in this list.
  • To ascertain eligibility for merit scholarships, the self-reported academic record submitted for admission review is utilized.
  • Merit awards will still be considered for applicants to Clemson from secondary institutions that do not use class rank.
  • When making this decision, a weighted rank is applied, if applicable.

OUT-OF-STATE STUDENTS (DOMESTIC)

Out-of-State Scholarship for Tuition

Students from out-of-state who are domestic and have an outstanding academic record in high school may be eligible for a recurring recognition award.

Students who demonstrate financial need in their FAFSA application will be considered for merit awards and renewable grant funding. To be eligible, incoming first-year students must submit their online FAFSA forms by March 1 at the latest.

Additional Scholarship Considerations

All admitted first-year students, whether from out-of-state or in-state, are eligible to apply for scholarships from friends and graduates of Clemson University in addition to the aforementioned awards. Approximately 15% of our admitted students receive an offer for one of these scholarships.

  • Not all scholarships, qualifying conditions, or renewability requirements are included in this list.
  • The eligibility for merit scholarships is determined using the self-reported academic record that was submitted for admission evaluation.
  • Merit awards will still be considered for applicants to Clemson University from secondary schools that do not use class rank calculations.
  • For this determination, weighted rank is applied, if applicable.
