POSITION: Technician Hygiene Assistant
RecTrain Services is seeking a Technician Hygiene Assistant for our client, a leading global specialised chemical manufacturer. If you possess a relevant technical certificate, strong organisational skills, and the ability to read and interpret technical data, this role offers the opportunity to provide both administrative and technical support to site clients, including equipment setup, parameter checks, and process oversight.

As a Technician Hygiene Assistant, you will not simply clean equipment; you will conduct basic installation, calibration, and maintenance of dosing equipment. You will also monitor target chemical consumption, report technical issues, check product concentrations, and maintain stock control. Your work will directly impact production efficiency, chemical usage, and equipment performance.
Your Mission
You will take responsibility for conducting basic installation, calibration, and maintenance of dosing equipment. Your role includes monitoring target consumption for all chemicals, reporting possible technical issues to operators or line managers, and checking product concentrations and performance control by application. Additionally, you will measure water consumption and dosage, maintain stock control and ordering alerts, conduct consumption and stocks analysis, record technical incidents, and deliver basic training to operators.
Key Responsibilities
Your role spans equipment maintenance, consumption monitoring, stock control, reporting, and training. Here is what you will tackle:
Equipment Installation & Calibration
- You will conduct basic installation, calibration, and maintenance of dosing equipment, ensuring accurate chemical delivery.
- Checking for defects and distinguishing between colors to identify proper settings.
Consumption Monitoring
- You will monitor target consumption for all chemicals, ensuring usage stays within recommended ratios.
- Measuring and checking water consumption and dosage through titrations and dosage rate calculations.
Reporting & Issue Identification
- You will report possible technical issues on cleaning to the operator, line manager, or Site Coordinator.
- Sharing any observations of possible impact on chemical consumption.
Product Concentration Checks
- You will check product concentrations and performance control by application, limited to line checks and efficacy checks.
- Ensuring testing does not interfere with EBI or Tunnel Pasteurizer performance.
Stock Control & Ordering
- You will ensure the availability of every chemical on site at points of use.
- Alerting supervisors when stock levels drop below minimum thresholds.
Analysis & Documentation
- You will conduct consumption and stocks analysis with the Site Coordinator.
- Filling consumption trackers for each application including caustic, bottle washer additive, pasteurizer additives, acid cleaning tank, sterile, and lubricant.
Incident Recording & Resolution
- You will record technical incidents and help diagnose and resolve basic technical problems.
- Maintaining clear logs for future reference.
Training & Communication
- You will deliver basic training appropriate to operators, building their competence.
- Maintaining a good communication interface with all Diageo site personnel.
What You Bring to the Role
Education & Experience
- An HND in Chemical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- A relevant technical certificate.
- Experience in a start up or pilot production environment gives you a plus.
Technical Skills
- Good motor skills and the ability to do fine assembly for equipment calibration.
- Ability to check for defects and identify and distinguish between colors.
- Ability to read and interpret technical data, including equipment manuals and safety data sheets.
- Ability to work in a high pressure environment and under supervision.
Organisational & Communication Skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills to track multiple chemicals and equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting and training.
- Proficiency with basic computer programs including MS Office and database systems.
- Working knowledge of email systems, computer hardware, and peripherals.

- Detail oriented: You notice when consumption ratios drift or when equipment calibration drifts.
- Methodical: You follow titration and dosage checking procedures without skipping steps.
