Recent Express Entry Draw Gives 4,800 Invitations to Canada

In a recent all-program draw for the Express Entry system, 4,800 candidates were given invitations to apply (ITAs). Find out what the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is and how Express Entry draws will change.

In a recent Express Entry draw, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) sent 4,800 invitations to apply (ITAs) to people who were qualified.

The draw, which was called an “all-program draw,” looked at applicants from all three of the programs that are handled by the Express Entry application management system. Since April 26, this is the first all-program draw.

Minimum CRS score and criteria for being able to apply

ITA candidates needed a CRS score of 488 or higher. Language, education, job experience, occupation, and age all affect CRS scores. Better scores mean more Canadian permanent residency invitations.

Draws for Express Entry in 2023

Express Entry draws haven’t followed any apparent patterns for the number of candidates called, frequency, or kind. Candidates from all schools were drawn every two weeks in January, as before the pandemic.

In February, the IRCC held four visa program-specific lotteries. One was the FSWP’s first draw.

Weekly draws began in March. Thus, Express Entry issued more than 21,000 ITAs, the second-highest amount ever.

After the epidemic, the system resumed its biweekly all-program draw in April. This year’s Express Entry draws have changed, as there is no trend.

Changes coming to Express Entry

Later this year, IRCC may organize Express Entry drawings based on attributes rather than CRS scores. In June 2022, the Queen signed Bill C-19, enabling this transition.

This bill allows the immigration minister to request workers who can help Canada meet its economic goals by filling vacant positions. Targeted draws help firms with frequent staffing issues.

The fact that Express Entry is up to the individual draws

Remember that only IRCC and the immigration minister choose Express Entry applicants. The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act does not specify draw dates, schools, candidates, or CRS cut-off scores.

In other words, IRCC is not required to act in a certain way if the minister thinks it is not necessary.

Learn about Express Entry

The Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class are all Canadian economic immigration schemes that are run by the Express Entry application management system.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), gives candidates scores based on a number of human capital factors to evaluate candidates in these schools.

The plan for Canada’s immigration

Canada aims to admit about 82,000 new permanent residents through Express Entry by 2023, according to the Immigration Levels Plan for 2023–2025. Canada aims to attract qualified workers to boost its economy.
